Believe it or not materials laying around at home free of hazardous chemical contamination can be recycled!
There are many reasons for home disposal, the first and most important reason is to save the earth from becoming a giant landfill. If we continue discarding recyclable home items in about 20 years our landfills we have now will be full.
Such items can damage the environment if thrown into the trash. These items should be taken to special collections for recycling, reuse, or safe disposal
The problem with chemicals is that many are toxic, corrosive, explosive, or flammable. When thrown out with other trash, they can mix with other chemicals in the garbage truck and produce toxic fumes, catch fire, or explode.
