Now all that is left is to shine as you go through the recruiting process. Though the process may seem daunting at first, it really is a fun and worthwhile experience. To help you gain a better understanding of what it will involve, recruiting alum Jaspreet Pandher provides some insight. Jaspreet is a third-year accounting student from Calgary, Alberta, attending the University of Calgary. She began her recruiting experience in January 2011. This summer, Jaspreet completed her first internship with KPMG’s Audit practice in Calgary, where she also took part in the rotational program and worked for a time in Tax, Advisory and KPMG Enterprise™.© 2012 KPMG LLP a Canadian limited liability partnership and a member firm of the KPMG network of independent ,member firms affiliated with KPMG International Cooperative (“KPMG International”), a Swiss entity. I would say there were two main things that I took away from those experiences, says Jaspreet. “First, ” I learned a lot more about KPMG, such as the culture and the people. Second, I gained practical tips on case writing and leadership skills that I can apply to school and to my internship. Because these events aren’t during the regular recruiting season, they are a great low-pressure way to get to know the people. ” Jaspreet really enjoyed the fact that KPMG has offered her so many opportunities for growth, including skill building workshops, networking events, a chance to work in the field she loves, and the ability to apply these skills to real world experiences. On the personal side, she found that taking part in the recruiting process allowed her to get to know the people she would be working with, and offered a sense of comfort going into the first day of work. As she navigated the recruiting process, Jaspreet learned that it’s critical to develop and maintain relationships with KPMG’s recruiters who attend campus events. She says these recruiters are great sources of information about the firm and it helps them remember you during the recruiting period— especially when it comes to offer time. “What really stood out to me from my recruiting process was that all the KPMG people I met were so friendly and excited to share stories about their experience at the firm. They took the time to really get know me, and made me feel like I was more than just a number, says Jaspreet. “My advice for someone going through the ” process would be to attend all the events that KPMG holds throughout the year— they are amazing ways to get to know the office and the people.”© 2012 KPMG LLP a Canadian limited liability partnership and a member firm of the KPMG network of independent ,member firms affiliated with KPMG International Cooperative (“KPMG International”), a Swiss entity.
