  • 2. FontsCollege Magazine Music MagazineI used a font called ‘’ whichwas already on publisher formy college magazine. Thislimits my choice to suit my On my music magazine, Itarget audience. downloaded a font from www.dafont.com called OptimusPrinceps. This gives me more choice on an appropriate font to suit my target audience.
  • 3. Colour SchemeCollege Magazine Music MagazineDue to not going through planning My fonts matched on mystages for my college magazine, I music magazine as I could usedidn’t have a colour scheme to the ‘eye dropper’ tool onsuit my audience. Therefore Photoshop which allowed mecolours used were very bland and to select colours I had alreadymix matched. used. This allowed me to create a organised colour scheme to help keep my magazine looking professional
  • 4. LayoutCollege Magazine Music MagazineOn my college magazine I didn’t Due to using photshop for myuse rulers and therefore my text music magazine, i used theand pictures were placed ruler feature which allowedwherever. This meant my content me to move my content sodidnt align and it makes the that it was aligned to create amagazine look very sloppy and more professional look for aunprofessional. top selling magazine.
  • 5. PhotographyCollege Magazine Music MagazineI didn’t have much variation of I decided to include aimages in my college magazine. I variation of studio and livejust had one main image and that based images in my musicwas it. This would not attract my magazine. I learnt that fromtarget audience as from market my college magazine justresearch, I found that my audience having the one image madelikes more pictures than text. the magazine look plain and would not appeal to my audience.
  • 6. Writing StyleCollege Magazine Music MagazineWhen writing for my college I created a first draft of mymagazine, I just wrote my text article to make sure Iwithout any thought for my corrected any errors oraudience. inconsistencies in my writing style. I also chose words to suit my audience such as ‘’ which would connect to my target market in order for them to purchase my magazine.
  • 7. Overall i think there is a clear positiveprogression from my preliminary task to myactual task. There was no planning or audienceresearch in any areas of my college magazine. Therefore my magazine couldn’t fulfil its fullpotential due to I didnt know what my actualaudience wanted. However my music magazinewas a lot more successful due to researching, planning and using more advanced productionstages, such as photoshop rather than publisher.
  • 8. ResearchI used both audience and market research in order for my todevelop my music magazine. For my audience research i created a survey onwww.surveymonkey.com which i posted on social networkingwebsite, facebook. Once i had received 20 responses I closed thesurvey and analysed my results. It gave me a clear idea of what Ineeded to include in my magazine such as music magazines are onlybought when ‘one catches their eye.’ It also gave me primaryknowledge on what to include in my magazine such as gig reviews, interviews and competitions. For my market research I received media packs from establishedindie/rock based music magazines. I analysed these to discover agap in the market for my mainly indie based magazine for teenagerswith a love for live music.
  • 9. I first of all created a pitch to createa profile on what i plan for my Planningmagazine to be like. I kept referringback to my pitch during theproduction stage as i felt i needed tostick to my pitch which was basedaround my research.I also made a style sheet. Thisallowed me to show example images, text and colour schemes i wasproposing this use. This helped medecide which would be suitable formy audience rather than just choosingrandom ones, like in my preliminarytask.
  • 10. I then made flat plan designs. This gave Planningme a chance to experiment withdifferent possible designs i could usewhen creating my actual magazine. This allowed me to see what wouldwork with my draft content and whatwouldn’t.
  • 11. I then created photography plans and acontact sheet. Creating these helped me Planningthink about how i should actually take myimages and then once i had taken then, choosing the best suited ones.
  • 12. PlanningI also made a more complex flat plan DPS with my proposed article draft. This allowed me to think more about what sort of words to include to suit my target audience
  • 13. Production• Image manipulation - adding different shadows around images to make a photobooth effect and make them stand out on my DPS• Text manipulation - adding a drop shadow onto a ordinary title in order to create an effect that stands out against a busy image
