    4. Le pass é-composé = the perfect tense
      • The perfect tense is used to talk about the past.
      • The perfect tense has two parts :
      • 1) an HELPING VERB called auxiliary. It is the relevant part of the verb avoir:
      J’ai Tu as Il/elle/on a Nous avons Vous avez Ils/ elles ont  AVOIR
    5. Le pass é-composé = the perfect tense
      • 2) A PAST PARTICIPLE. There are formed from the infinitive of the verb. They fall into 4 different groups:
      • -er verbs replace –er with – é j’ai regard é
      • -ir verbs replace –ir with –i j’ai fin i
      • -re verbs replace –re with –u j’ai attend u
      • Some verbs have irregular past participles like:
      • Faire – j’ai fait
      • Voir – j’ai vu
      • Lire – j’ai lu
    6. Write each verb in the perfect tense. For each one, you need part of avoir and the correct past participle .
      • Je (finir)
      • Je (aimer)
      • Je (vendre)
      • Je (continuer)
      • Ils (examiner)
      • Nous (d écider)
      • Tu (entendre)
      • On (rougir)
      • Pierre (attendre)

      • partner. Make sure he/she uses the
      • perfect tense correctly.

      • Use your answers to the questions you have just answered in the lesson.
      • Use the perfect tense correctly.
      • Use connectives.
      • Add opinions: c’ était = it was.
