    • General Description
      • MaCS System
      • The MaCS System implements the most up to date RDBMS, software and networking technologies.
      • The entire application has been created using ORACLE DB as relational engine and Oracle developer suite as development environment.
      From the system and network point of view, ORACLE products being multiplatform-based allows MaCS System to be OS independent.
    • Making Connections Easier
      • During the creation of MaCS, great attention has been placed to the local network management (both cable and wireless).
      • MaCS has been developed with the specific aim of making connections easier:
              • Within the warehouse facilities
              • Between warehouse and office
              • Between the Handler and the Customer
              • Between the Carrier and the Handler
      • MaCS operates via web browser (therefore eliminating installation issues) as it has been created for working through application server (Oracle Application Server).
      • A wide employment of wireless technology allows the operators to move with little or no hassle.
      • Telecommunication Systems :
      • wireless/cable private and public nets (e.g. X25), and SITA.
      • Automatic Stacking Systems
      • e.g. UHS in use in Milan MXP Cargo City.
      • Flight Status Information Systems
      • BDV (SEA) and DBO (SEA Handling).
      • Electronic transmission of data – High compatibility with Carrier IT systems
      • EDI translator provides the following messages (as per CargoIMP IATA standard): FSU, FSR, FSA, FFM, FHL, FYT, FBL etc. Facing specific requirements of the Carrier, ad hoc customised messages can be created and implemented.
      • AIDA - Customs Agency: MMA (inbound cargo manifest) and MMP (outbound cargo manifest) are sent on behalf of the Carrier. Alha Airport is benchmarking AIDA Customs IT System, towards customs paperless processes.
      Main Interfaces
    • Messages
      • MaCS implements a Translation System (EDI) that manages input/output messages.
      • The system supports various communication systems such as e-mail, http, xml, FTP (currently being used for Mail handling).
      The translator handles IATA Cargo*IMP messages and the AHM standard through the SITA channel. During the working stages the messages are sent either automatically or manually, on specific request by the operator.

      BAR CODE SCAN Macs network enables direct electronic interface between the warehouse facilities and the operational offices, thus improving the operational process in terms of effectiveness, time-saving and accuracy. Thanks to MaCS technologies Human Errors are expected to be cut drastically. Electronic Management and Location of freight in the warehouse is available thanks to the application of BARCODE TECHNOLOGY and MaCS’ integration with:
    • Stacker System Interface – Physical Handling
      • The interface between MaCS and the Stacker Systems is based on the continuous analysis of pre-alert, incoming and outgoing data;
      • MaCS processes all information concerning cargo handling and provides the Stacker IT System with appropriate feedback.
      Thanks to this kind of interface MaCS can improve the process’ efficiency and leads to a considerable optimisation of the fluxes.
    • Online Services
      • MaCS provides a broad range of functions for tracking and tracing shipments (and goods in general). Real-time updates on the status of the shipment are available for registered users on our website .
      Customers are allowed to access Track and Trace functions simply by logging-on Alha Airport website and entering AWB number. Within Alha Airport website the following on-line services are be available for all registered users:
      • Track and Trace
      • Monitoring
      • Delivery
    • Some of the benefits MaCS will bring to document handling
      • High efficiency in cargo document handling and flight preparation
      • Reduction of acceptance time
      • Time saving in the whole document handling process
      • Availability of a wide range of information for the flight’s operators (e.g. technical chart of every single A/C for all the Carriers are available and can be consulted in MaCS)
      • High compatibility with Carriers’ IT Systems -
      • Reduction of Human Error
      • Paper saving in the whole document handling process
    • Alha Airport Partnerships in Technological research Since November, 2007 Alha Airport Spa is taking part to IPS - Internal Post Corporation project: Future of mail by Air EDI Interface with Carriers. Since then, our IT department is testing CARDIT/RESDIT and PRECON/RESCON messages and represents a benchmark in Italy for the development of mail handling IT. Starting as from May 2008, Alha Airport has been supporting IATA STB / e-freight pilot E-freight is an initiative launched by the Board of IATA which aims to leverage technology, automate the business and streamline processes. This results in a reduction of complexity and cost, to make travel more convenient.
    • ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS Alha Airport and MaCS ...towards a paperless warehouse
      • Thanks to wireless networking, bar-coding and electronic archiving, MaCS’ technology leads to a significant reduction in the use of paper for cargo document handling: thanks to the introduction of MaCS, Alha Airport Spa is expected to save more than 50% of paper every year.
      Alha Airport is partner of IATA STB / e-freight pilot scheme, a project designed with the aim of eliminating the need to produce and transport paper documents for air cargo shipments Alha Airport is also giving its contribute in the development of paperless clearance of Customs formalities, being a benchmark in the application of AIDA Customs IT System
