How to Hold Your Own Walk -A-Thon! How to Hold Your Own Walk -A-Thon! Presentation Transcript

    • How to hold your own Walk-a-thon!
    • Hosting a Lemonade themed Walk-a-thon is a fun and different way to raise money for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation! With each step taken at your fundraiser, scientists are then one step closer to finding a cure for pediatric cancer.
    • How to get started… 1. Gather a small group of friends. Remember -nobody fights alone! • Begin your walk-a-thon preparation by assembling a small committee. • You want to make sure you have enough people to help spread out the responsibilities of the event, however, refrain from making the committee too large. – A suggested group would be 5-7 people with possible sub-committees for different areas. – For example, you may want one person to oversee a smaller group of volunteers working to get raffle items. – Some areas to have committee leads for are donations/prizes, venue/food, print materials, event program, etc. Be sure to talk to the course you are interested in as they will likely have someone available to assist with your outing!
    • 3. Pick a date and a location! You can plan to do inside or outside- but make sure to have a plan for bad weather if you’re outside 4. Register your walk-a-thon on the ALSF website - Click “Register Now” to register your event! This will allow you to have a personal fundraising page.
    • 5. Download resources - Check out ALSF’s website for resources you can download and print out like the Walk-a-thon packet which will help you organize your fundraiser! 6. Plan! - Use your Walk-a-thon packet to help guide you along your way. Also, your stand coach is a great support system for any questions that might come up along the way! - Set a fundraising goal!
    • Print out, sell your paper lemons and display them at your event!
    • 7. Spread the word! Use social media, newspapers, email, text messages and flyers to spread the word about your event. - The more people that know about our event, the more money you will raise! 8. Gather volunteers to help you on the day of the event! 9. Hold your event! Make sure to have fun!
    • You can use texting to collect money for your fundraiser. Just follow the directions in your stand packet! Did you know?
    • 10. Send in your donations to the ALSF office! Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation 333 E. Lancaster Ave, #414 Wynnewood PA, 19096 11. Thank your supporters! -Their support has helped make a difference in the fight against pediatric cancer!
