Separating Content from Structure: The LMS Quandary
Designing and developing course for particular learning management systems can be challenging, especially as these systems are both evolving and complex. What’s a designer to do if the institution makes a change, or if the particular LMS does not meet the needs of the course design? This session will discuss a model used where content is kept separate from structure, allowing the maximum flexibility in use of the LMS while at the same time keeping the content free of the traditional LMS structure.
Stevie Rocco, Communications Support Coordinator for the PSU Online initiative and the Penn State World Campus.
The PSU Online Initiative
Many flavors of online learning are becoming a regular part of higher education. Penn State Online is the administrative structure representing the primary online delivery mechanisms of Penn State University, the e-Learning at Penn State Cooperative and the World Campus. This presentation will describe the PSU Online Initiative and its work to promote collaboration, resource-efficiency, and quality across Penn State.
