Wireless Scanner <ul><li>The scanner sits in the base charger. </li></ul><ul><li>Wireless Activator is attached to the monitor/cart. </li></ul><ul><li>Remove the scanner from the base. </li></ul><ul><li>Scan the barcode on the record activator, “bluetooth device”, attached to the monitor/cart. </li></ul><ul><li>This will allow communication to the patient’s record. </li></ul><ul><li>When finished scan the barcode on the base charger to inactivate connection to the patient’s record. </li></ul>

(This should not be done unless it is a medical emergency and you can not wait for a new armband.) </li></ul><ul><li>Double verify that you are in the correct patient record, correct patient room, and correct patient. </li></ul>

    27. 27. Signing the Medications <ul><li>Signing the medications completes the administration process and documents the medications on the eMAR. </li></ul><ul><li>Click on the Sign button </li></ul>
    28. 28. Inactivating the Device <ul><li>Aim the scanner at the Base Charger barcode. </li></ul><ul><li>Place the Scanner into </li></ul><ul><li>the Base Charger after it has been wiped done with the approved cleaning product. </li></ul>

Notice to Pharmacy <ul><li>Save the label of the med not scanned – return to pharmacy, with a patient label attached. </li></ul><ul><li>Go to Reports and select “Pharmacy Communication” </li></ul><ul><li>Select “POC Scanning Error Communication” </li></ul><ul><li>Fill out the required fields </li></ul><ul><li>Send message to Pharmacy </li></ul>
