Case study 1 – Tech for Less a/b test
Background
During December 2010 alaTest and Tech for Less compared the behavior of several hundred
thousand online shoppers on techforless.com. 50 % of the shoppers had access to product
reviews from alaTest and 50 % didn’t.

Result
Shoppers with access to product reviews from alaTest were 22 % more likely to complete an
order.
“We’ve seen firsthand the positive impact product review information can have on consumer
buying behavior”, said Dan Van Wijk, Director of Marketing and e-Commerce for Tech for Less,
adding, “The ability to get information on the product experience from experts is powerful when
consumers are considering investing in technology”.


Conclusion

Background
During February – April 2011 alaTest and MTX Computers are comparing the behavior of online
shoppers on shop.mtx.at. 50 % of the shoppers have access to product reviews from alaTest and
50 % don’t.

Preliminary Result
Shoppers with access to product reviews from alaTest are 48 % more likely to complete
an order.

Conclusion
Consumer electronics are high-consideration purchases and reviews give shoppers the information
they need to convert to buyers. By using alaTest Reviews Solutions retailers can increase
