  • Possibly add the pictures of assistant principals as well.
  • Get pictures of student wearing uniform correctly.
  • Get pictures from PE dept. showing student with correct uniform…
  • Idea here go over these items using Elmo, then ask quick quiz questions for summarizing important info… maybe give prizes too (pens, pencils, etc.)
  • Ask for volunteers and have students demonstrate what they should do… (make safety fun). Quiz audience. A- if no sidewalks available walk on left side street facing traffic and as far off the roadway as possible.
  • Take picture of our school bus stop.
  • (Take a picture of our own signs and put them into presentation)
  • Show students and parents planner and tell parents they should write down these dates with their child into their planner when they receive them (after they turn in their emergency card). Remind parents to plan dentist and doctors appointments, vacations during these and other holidays.

    • 2. Meet some of Our NMS Staff-  6th Grade Teachers please stand!  Counselors please stand!  Go to Nightingale MS .org, then go to TEACHERS/STAFF on right panel.
    • 3. Uniform Policy!  STUDENTS ARE TO WEAR:   Navy blue slacks or shorts (not saggy, oversized or split bottom) or   Navy blue jumpers, skirts or skorts   Solid white collared shirt/blouse or   Approved spirit/club/class t-shirts on Thursdays only
    • 4. Proper Student Uniform!

Uniform Policy Continued…  For PE Classes:   Grey P.E. t-shirt (including 5K shirts) &   Red P.E. shorts  Additional Requirements:   PE shirt does not replace white uniform shirt.   Jacket/sweatshirt hoods are not to be worn.   Hats/caps may only be worn outside during inclement weather.

Safety Guidelines… Going To and From School  Use crosswalks!   Avoid walking alone!  Look BOTH ways!   Never take a ride What if no sidewalks  from stranger! are available?  No playing near train   Create a family tracks or flood control code word! channels! Why?   Know your home information!
    • 9. Bus Stop Safety  Student behavior should be same as on the school grounds.  Be there 5 minutes before departure time.  Line up single file (bodies behind bodies).  Don’t approach bus until it comes to a complete stop.

    • 12. General School Bus Rules!  Stay seated while moving.  Low voices for safety.  Keep all body parts on inside of bus.  No eating on the bus.  No profanity.  Be courteous with words and actions.
