    WDM Reorganization - Presentation Transcript

    1. City of West Des Moines
      • 2007 Reorganization
      • As a growing suburban community experiencing a high volume of development activity, we continue to face new challenges in West Des Moines. Our most recent effort to adapt to this change took place on January 15, when the City Council approved a reorganization of our City’s structure related to development services. This action was based on an outside, objective study aimed to improve and streamline development related functions.
      • This reorganization has created a more focused and responsive development review process under a new department titled Development Services. The Council also approved a search consultant to recruit a new director to oversee the department.
      • The reorganization complements other internal process improvements that resulted from the Development Review PAT and subsequent Kaizen events. Primary reasons for reorganization include the elucidation of vision and goals for development services in the City; consolidating responsibilities and leadership for the process; enhancing customer service; and recognition of the need for continuous improvement.
      • View the following updated organizational charts for the new and changed departments to get a better idea of how the new structure will work.
