3. • Overall Mobility (trips per day, year
2014): 5.678.000, of which 2.502.000
between Milano and its urban area,
done 58% by car.
• A more balanced modal split of trips
Inside the City (30% by car), but a very
high Car ownership: 51/100 inhab.
4. • The sharing system is a crucial element
that contributes to reduce the
negative impacts of car traffic,
especially for a city like Milan which
has one of the most high ratio
car/inhabitant of Europe: 51 cars per
100 inhabitants.
• Now Milan offers:• Now Milan offers:
a) Two different types of Car Sharing
services: Free Floating and Station
Based;
b) a Bike sharing service.
• Milan will be implementing:
a) A scooter sharing service;
b) The extension of Car Sharing service
in the Metropolitan Area;
c) A competitive form of Electric Car
Sharing.
6. The Car Sharing service with the station
based model was the first to be
introduced in Milan.
It started in 2002, with the service offered
by Legambiente.
Nowadays there are two companies that
primarily operate with this model: GuidaMi
and E-Vai.
COMMON FEATURES:
• Fleet with different type of vehicles (also
Van and ZEV);
• Pick up and Drop off primarily in Car
Sharing Station;
• Operating 24 hours a day;
• Combined to TPL services;
• Hourly and kilometric rate.
7. In 2013, under the spur of the explosion of
the other systems of sharing (bike-sharing)
and on the basis of a study by AMAT on
the potential for development, the
Municipality of Milan launched a Public
call in order to spread free-floating car
sharing services.

• one way system;
• fast reservation;
• fleet with at least 80 vehicles;
• 90% of the fleet with a length less than
4,50 m;
• one vehicle of 100 fitted for the
transport of people with reduced
mobility.

9. The City of Milan has put into effect 27
electric charging stations network within a
project called Digital Islands. A Digital Island
is a hyper-technological outdoor space
which is open to citizens and tourists to
communicate, inform and move in a
sustainable manner. Each Digital Island is
equipped with:
• Wi Fi;
• Multimedia and multifunction touch-
screen Totem (services: infomobility, taxiscreen Totem (services: infomobility, taxi
and emergency calls, bookings, e-
commerce, e-government, tourism);
• Smart cameras for territory monitoring
and control;
• Smart lighting;
• Charging systems for private users
(computer, phones, etc.).
Each Island is equipped with a 12 charging
points aligned on a bar where
accommodate the fully electric vehicles, to
encouraging car-sharing mobility.
10. Thanks to the Digital Island facilities, new e-car
sharing operators came forward providing
new services.
As SHARE’NGO, a new fully electric car
sharing company, with a initial fleet of 100
cars and over 100 km of autonomy.
The service will be operating from June 2015.
It will be the first car sharing service with
variable fees according to the individual
mobility needs of the users.

12. BikeMi is the service of Bike-Sharing,
developed by ATM and operated by
Clear Channel.
Born in December 2008, it provides a user-
friendly, practical and ecological service.
The stations, with an availability of about
4.400 bikes throughout the area, are
located in the main strategic points of thelocated in the main strategic points of the
city, starting from the city center and
reaching, with the 3rd phase, the site of
Expo 2015.
The service is available every day from
7.00 am to 12.00 pm. During the summer,
the operation is prolonged from Sunday to
Thursday from 7.00 am to 2.00 am and on
Friday and Saturday without interruption.
13. RESULTS OBTAINED
• 247 stations (up to early May 2015);
• More than 3.500 traditional bicycles;
• 800 electric bicycles;
• 36.000 subscriptions every year;
• 2.481.802 bicycle trips in 2014;
• 10.000 rents per day on average (on
the 27th May 2015 BikeMi users made
new record: 15.232 bikes picked up innew record: 15.232 bikes picked up in
one day).
The pick up and drop off stations are
located nearby the railway stations,
metro, universities, hospitals, tourist sites,
government offices, shopping centers and
park and ride spaces.
All users are authorized to pick up the bike
at one point and drop off it in a station
near their destination.
15. Milan is the first Italian city to launch a
Public call for identifying companies to
perform the Scooter Sharing Service.
It has started in December 2014 and it has
the following features:
• One way system within the 95% of the
territorial coverage;territorial coverage;
• Fast reservation by the user;
• Fleet of at least 120 Internal Combustion
Engine scooters or 80 ZEV;
• Obligatory replacement every 4 years
from the date of registration or upon
reaching 50.000 km;
• Free training courses on driving and
road safety for members and also for
schools.
Application deadline: 31st December 2015
16. In 2014, 33 municipalities around Milan
were asked to express themselves upon
the enlargement of car sharing service.
The municipalities have responded
positively to the idea.
By decision of the City council, this
service was extended to theservice was extended to the
metropolitan area, guaranteeing the
following benefits for the free-floating car
sharing operators:
• Reduction of the 4% annual fee for any
new vehicle operating in the new
municipalities.
