  • 3. Origin:  Purpose : - Create a cable replacement standard for personal area network - Handle simultaneously both data and voice between a wide range of devices  Key features : – Robustness – Low complexity of use – Low power – Low cost

History: Harald Bluetooth : 10th century Danish King, managed to unite Denmark and Norway Bluetooth SIG (Special Interest Group) : – Founded in 1998 by : Ericsson, Intel, IBM, Toshiba and Nokia – Created in order to promote, shape and define the specification and position of Bluetooth in the market place.
  • 5. It was originally conceived as a wireless alternative to RS- 232 data cables.

  • 8.  From short range to long range, the wireless landscape has taken shape in our lives. Bluetooth wireless technology, though one among many, has a wide variety of applications.  Each version of the Core Specification retains the functional characteristics of the previous version of the Bluetooth Core Specification.  The most recent enhancement, Bluetooth v4.0, is like three specifications in one – Classic Bluetooth technology, Bluetooth low energy technology, and Bluetooth high speed technology – all which can be combined or used separately in different devices according to their functionality

Bluetooth Devices are Wireless: If you navigate through the rest of our site you will learn that there are tons of advantages/benefits when using wireless devices.  Bluetooth Technology is Inexpensive:Bluetooth technology is cheap for companies to implement, which results in lower over-all manufacturing Costs.  Bluetooth is Automatic:Bluetooth doesn't require you to think about setting up a connection or to push any buttons after acceptence. When two or more Bluetooth devices enter a range (Up to 30 feet) of one another
  • 11.  One of the things that may cause conflicts for Bluetooth is that it uses the same frequency as the Wavelan standard.  Another problem for Bluetooth is when there are a number of mobile devices in the same room, and possibly attempting the same operation.
