    Training Officers Consortium (TOC) History - Presentation Transcript

    1. 1938 8 Federal trainers meet monthly. Over time… academia, private sector, and local government join them.
    2. Over the next 40 years… No formal procedures, by-laws or membership lists. Just an Executive Committee and a group of dedicated people making valuable policy and programming.
    3. Annual Distinguished Service Awards 1955 was launched to acknowledge individuals and organizations making significant contributions to the fields of training and human resource development.
    4. 1967-1971 and held Joint Awards Ceremony.
    5. TOC expanded 1983 from an annual one-day Institute and Awards Luncheon to an overnight Institute and Awards Luncheon at Cliffside Inn in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia.
    6. 1986 TOC expanded (again!) from a one and a half day Institute to a two and a half day Institute and Awards Luncheon.

    8. 1990s Incorporated in the District of Columbia. Obtained non-profit status, adopted by-laws, procedures, registrant list, offical Executive Board.
    9. 2007 Training Officer’s Conference Training Officer’s Consortium
    10. Established a Scholarship fund to assist 1990s outstanding DC High School students interested in earning a college degree related to a career in human resource development.
    11. Established a 2008 scholarship fund with the University of the District of Columbia Foundation, Inc. to continue TOC’s yearly outreach effort.
    12. We offer Networking Events Food Collegial Support Business Opportunities Scholarships Leadership Fun!
    13. We serve the Federal training community in Washington, DC, and state, local and academic communities.
    14. We create an environment for exchange and development of ideas through: Professional Development Annual Series Awards TOC Program Annual News Institute
