What is Akron Ready Steps?
The University of Akron and ASCA have been awarded federal funding to develop Head Start teachers’ knowledge and skill for a strong preschool program in language and literacy. The purpose is to help all of our children get ready for school.

Involving the Community in Improving Preschool Literacy Development and Education
Teachers and Teaching Assistants will take part in all day professional development sessions, online tutorials, and monthly tutoring sessions led by Literacy Coaches.
Literacy Coaches are hired by the project and will work with the teachers, as well as be in the classrooms often.
