  3. 3. Biography Third Day was started by vocalist Mac Powell and acoustic guitarist Mark Lee. The duo added bassist Tai Anderson and drummer David Carr from another local band. In the beginning, all the band had was a van, a dream, and a passion for music. They were influenced by Lynyrd Skynyrd and many other artists. Just after lead guitarist Brad Avery joined, the band signed with Gray Dot Records. The Christian rock band made their debut in 1996 but didn’t release their first album until almost a year later. With 25 No. 1 singles and armloads of Grammy and Dove awards, this band is a major success. In February 2008, Third Day announced that their lead guitarist Brad Avery was leaving the group, but the band stayed strong through it all.
  4. 4. Mac Powell John Mac Powell was born on December 25, 1972 in Montgomery, Alabama. He went to the same high school as future Third Day guitarist Mark Lee. Before Third Day, Powell and Lee formed a band in high school called Nuclear Hoedown. Mac currently lives in Atlanta with his wife Aimee and three children Scout, Cash, and Camie Love.
  5. 5. Mark Lee Mark David Lee was born on May 29, 1973 in Powder Springs, Georgia. He went to the same high school growing up as Mac Powell did. Mark currently lives in Kennesaw, Georgia with his wife Stephanie and their two daughters Abigail and Katherine.
  6. 6. Tai Anderson Tai Anderson was born in Brooklyn Massachusetts on June 11, 1976 .This man knew at a young age that he wanted to be a musician. He joined Third Day in 1993, just 2 years after the band was formed; please note that when he joined when was still in high school. Tai and his wife Shannon are keeping busy with their 5 children: Cole, Mackenzie, TJ, Lucy, and Eli.
  7. 7. David Carr David Carr was born in Atlanta, Georgia on November 15, 1974.He started playing for Third Day when he was still in high school, just like Anderson. This dedicated man has spent many hours devoting his life to the band.
