What is Affiliate Marketing?
A popular method of promoting web businesses is affiliate marketing. An affiliate
marketer is rewarded for every visitor, subscriber and/or customer provided
through his efforts. It is a modern variation of the practice of paying finder's-fees
for the introduction of new clients to a business. Compensation may be made
based on a certain value for each visit (Pay per click), registrant (Pay per lead),
or a commission for each customer or sale (Pay per Sale), or any combination.
From the merchant's viewpoint, the best thing about affiliate marketing is that no
payment is due to an affiliate until he or she gets results. Some e-commerce
vendors use third party services provided by intermediaries to track traffic or
sales that are referred from affiliates and some e-commerce sites run their own
affiliate programs. Many businesses owe much of their growth and success to
this marketing technique.
In its early days many internet users held negative opinions of affiliate marketing
due to the tendency of affiliates to use spam to promote the programs in which
they were enrolled. As affiliate marketing has matured many affiliate merchants
have refined their terms and conditions to prohibit affiliates from spamming.
Today, affiliate marketing is the single fastest growth industry on the Internet.
It’s also true that affiliate marketing is one of the fastest and most creative ways
to make money and have a career on the Internet.
It is always subject to change but currently the most active sectors for affiliate
marketing are the adult, gambling and retail sectors. Expected to experience the
greatest growth in affiliate marketing are the mobile phone, finance and travel
sectors. Not far behind and gaining fast are the entertainment (particularly
gaming) and internet-related services (particularly broadband) sectors. Several
of the affiliate solution providers expect to see increased interest from B2B
marketers and advertisers in using affiliate marketing as part of their mix.
Do You Need a Website for Affiliate Marketing?
The most important and indispensable thing to assure your success in affiliate
marketing is your own website. The first step in any successful affiliate
marketing
business is building a good, credible and professional looking website. Your
website is the jump off point of all your marketing efforts. Therefore, you must
first build a user-friendly website, which will attract your prospects and motivate
them to click on the links to the products and services you are promoting and
make a purchase. You must first focus your efforts in building a website that will
cater to what your prospects need.
Above all else, make your website full of original, relevant and useful content.
The most important thing you should consider is that almost all web users go
online to look for information, not necessarily to go and buy something. People
will love articles that are appealing and helpful. Keep in mind that, in the
internet, content is still king and good quality content will not only build your
credibility, it can also help you achieve a higher search engine ranking. By
posting relevant and useful articles, you establish yourself as a credible expert
in the field, making you a more dependable endorser of the product or service
you promote. Establishing a good name is a good step in building up a
dedicated consumer base. Dedicated customer bases are the life blood of
affiliate marketers. You must use every possible means on your website to
motivate prospects not only to visit your site but also to click and proceed to the
websites of the products and services you are promoting. When you are
creating your website, the possibilities are endless and are limited only by your
imagination, originality, resourcefulness and resolve. You can always explore
other ideas and adapt other strategies, which you think might help you become
a high rolling affiliate marketer but not until you have a great website.
How to Start With Affiliate Marketing?
1) Finding Niche Markets:
Find A Hot And Profitable Market:
This is one of the most important factors when it comes to making
money with other people’s products - you head straight for markets
that are rabid and already profitable.
Doing this will readily eliminate buyer’s resistance and deposit
more checks into your bank account.
Some markets which fit the above bill include:
Self-improvement, beauty, lifestyle, sports, hobbies, personal development,
Entertainment, money, finance & investment, business, home
based business and of course, internet marketing etc.
There are three basic ways to go about doing your research:
1. Start your research simply by using keyword tools which you can
download for free (see recommended resources).
2. Then use ‘qualifying keywords’ to drill down into the demand for
the market you’ve targeted:
Example of qualifying keywords you can use - learn xxxx, find
xxxx, buy xxxx, courses on xxxx, etc.
3. Next, confirm your results by checking on the number of
Google AdWords campaigns for that particular market.
The more ads there are typically means you’re dealing with a
profitable market (with all things being equal).

The Secret to Finding Profitable Products To Promote As
An Affiliate.
Where is the best place to find products to promote?
There are affiliate programs everywhere on the internet. I would estimate that
there are close to 1 billion affiliate programs on the internet.
With that said, I would never promote some sort of "physical product" like a lawn
mower, refrigerator, tool set, dishes, etc... The reason is that the commission
percentage (i.e. the amount of money you would get from the sale) is always
VERY VERY low. For example, some dishes might sell for something like $100,
but the commission percentage, if you were their affiliate, would only be
something lik 5%.
Take 5% of $100 and that's $5.00. It would take ALOT of sales at $5.00 to make
6 figures in a year, wouldn't it?
So, don't promote anything that's a physical product.
* What I would recommend is that you promote information products or
downloadable software.
Specifically "downloadable" information products and "downloadable" software.
The reason for this is because the markup on these types of products is nearly
100%. It costs the owner of the product almost nothing to sell and eBook or a
downloadable software program.
Because of this, they can reward their affiliates by giving them much higher cuts
of each person they refer to buy their product. Commission percentages from
anywhere from 40% to 75% are NOT uncommon at all. In fact, I would never
promote a product that as a commission rate of anything lower than 40%.
The best place to find downloadable information products (i.e. eBooks) or
downloadable software is at a place called Clickbank.com.
Let me preface this by saying I'm starting slowly to make sure you have a solid
foundation to grasp all the more advanced things I'll be teaching you. So, if you
already know this, bear with me.
Go ahead and go there now and follow along with me:
http://www.clickbank.com
I believe in showing lots of real-life examples, since I personally learn best this
way.
Once you're there, click on the link on the top right that says "marketplace" as
shown below:
You'll then be taken to the Clickbank Marketplace. You'll see a list of a bunch of
different categories.
Go ahead and select a category and then you'll see all of the various products
that you could potentially promote as an affiliate.
Below each product you'll see a bunch of links and data. I'll explain the data
later, but for now... if you wanted to promote one of these products, all you'd
need to do is click on the link labeled "create hoplink" as shown below:
Then input your clickbank username. If you don't have one, you'll just need to
create a clickbank account, which is entirely free.
You'll notice there are a TON of different products you can promote.
If you already know what Clickbank is, just ignore everything I said above. I just
want to lay down a solid foundation before I get into the more advanced,
specific, money making strategies. It's critical that you know the basics before
diving into the specific money making stuff.
Alright, so...
The main problem that most affiliates run into here, is they know they need to
promote downloadable information product OR downloadable software. They
know to look for products that have commission percentages between 40-75%
and most try to only promote products that are 70% or higher.
The problem is, almost all affiliates have no clue how to find a product that will
actually sell well. It's absolutely critical to not promote a product that has a low
conversion rate. Meaning, products that nobody wants to buy are clearly not
good products to promote. Makes common sense...
Ok, so how do you find products that will likely sell well?
Step 1: Go to the Clickbank Marketplace
Step 2: Select a category.
Tip: I've found that the business to business category tends to sell the best
Step 3: Take note of the stats/data below each product. You'll see something
like the following:
$/sale: $30.44 | Future $: - | Total $/sale: $30.44 | %/sale: 75.0% | %refd: 75.0% | grav: 123.91
$/sale is the amount of money that you will make if you promote their
product and make a sale. $30.44 is much better than the $5.00 you'd get if
you sold some dishes :-)
Future $ is if the product is a monthly/recurring billing product, like a
membership site where their buys would pay them every single month.
Those products tend to be good products to promote. In the case above, that
is not a recurring/membership style website.
Total $/sale is the amount of money that you would get if you sold their
product right now, today. Whereas, the $/sale figure we talked about above
is an average amount, including any refunds that customers have done in
the past.
%/sale is the commission percentage. So, if the product costs $100, you
would get $75 per sale.
%refd is the percentage of sales made of this product that were referred by
their affiliates. In the example above, 75% of their product sales were made
by their affiliates.
grav stands for gravity. This is the total number of affiliates that have made
1 or more sales of this product in the past 8 weeks. This number is good to
know. You know that over 100 other people have currently told atleast 1
copy of this product... so it is possible to sell it as an affiliate.
Alright, now that you know the basics of what all those mean, let's get into the
specifics on what you should be looking for.
I ONLY care about Total $/sale, %/sale, and gravity.
It's good to know roughly how much money you'll make per sale.
I only promote stuff that is 50% or higher in commission percentage. You'll
find that almost every CB product is atleast 50%.
And then gravity, which I keep a constant watch over. Gravity is extremely
important.
Here's one of my secret strategies that
works almost every single time.
The problem with it, is that it can take a few weeks to get enough data to see if
a product is being promoted successfully by other affiliates. That's the key. You
want to only promote other products that have have proven themselves to sell
well for other affiliates. Then, just copy what they're doing to make money for
yourself.
Ok, so what you should do is...
1. Open up an excel spreadsheet.
2. Label 4 columns: Date, Product name, Rank, Gravity
3. Go the CB marketplace and select a category. I'd suggest selecting the
business to business category.
4. Browse through the products there. The products are listed in order from the
product that is making the most money for the product owner, to the product
that is making the least money. The products at the very top aren't necessarily
the best to promote. Although they can be.
5. You'll want to click on each of the products and visit their sales page.
There are several specific things you absolutely must see or you probably
should even consider promoting them, which include...
• Does the product have nice graphics or do they look extremely amateur.
If the site just looks really bad, it's likely that the product won't sell very
well.
• Does the sales page have an optin form. This is a form where they collect
the visitors name and email address so they can follow-up with the visitor
later, and try to sell them their product.
• Does the sales page have a header graphic. If it doesn't have a header
graphic, it's probably not a site that converts very well.
• Does the website quite a few testimonials? or proven results? There
needs to be testimonials from current users of the product. If there are no
testimonials OR no screenshots or videos showing that the product does
whatever it's promising it will do, then it likely isn't one that will convert
well.
5. Once you find a product that has all or most of these, I want you to type it into
your spreadsheet. In the date field, put today's date. In the product name field,
put the name of the product. In the rank column, put the current rank in the CB
marketplace that the product is located. And in the gravity column, but the
current gravity of the product.
6. Do this for atleast 5 different products.
7. Save the spreadsheet and then come back tomorrow and return to the CB
marketplace and look at the gravity and rank of each of the products, and place
it into your spreadsheet. You'll want to do this for atleast 1 week. The longer
you can do it, the more data you'll have, and the better chance of knowing
whether or not it is a profitable product to promote.
8. After a week is up, I want you to look at your spreadsheet. You want to look
for products that have a gradually increasing gravity number. This means
that each day, more and more people are promoting the product.
Now, let's think about why this is helpful. If the product was not converting into
sales, then likely those that WERE promoting it woudl stop because they weren't
making any more. So, the gravity level would slowly decrease over time. If the
gravity level is increasing, you know that it's making people money, so more and
more people are jumping on the bandwagon.
This is exactly what you want to do.
In most cases, after only 1 week, unfortunately there probably won't be a major
difference in the rank OR the gravity. But it "could" give you a little more clarity
as to whether or not the product is a good one to promote. If you were able to do
this for 2-3 months, you would know for certain if a product will make you
money or not. That's one of the major problems that affiliates run into. They're
just not willing to take the time to do this. And I don't blame them.
2-3 months is a ridiculous amount of time to wait to see if a product might
make you money, and that's why most people can't use this sweet strategy for
finding profitable products.
2) Protect Your Affiliate Commissions.
Thieves are a problem out in the brick and mortar world is for business owners
and thieves are a concern for cyber space business owners. Out in the brick and
mortar world, thieves will take money and merchandise and it isn’t any different
online. The real world merchants use locks and alarms to deter thieves. Internet
business owners need to use anti-theft software to protect their commissions.
Here are some things you can do to protect yourself and your commissions:
1. Use Meta Refresh: A meta refresh is a simple bit of HTML code which
automatically redirects your visitor to another page (your affiliate URL). It
provides a neat way of presenting affiliate links in newsletters. It probably
helps reduce commission bypassing and commission hijacking. A big
advantage of using meta refreshes is that if merchants change their
affiliate links, you can change links on dozens of pages quickly and easily
by altering only one file.
One problem is that some search engines don't like meta refreshes because
they're frequently used for unsavory purposes. So if you use this technique,
use it with caution.
2. Use a URL redirection service. You can use free services or buy a unique
domain name for each affiliate program you join. URL redirection makes
affiliate links less obvious, so this will reduce some commission thefts.
3. Use a web-based ad tracking service. The ad tracking link initially hides
the affiliate link, reducing thefts.
4. Use an ad tracking script. Good ad tracking scripts hide the affiliate link as
well as being useful for tracking. It has the advantage that it doesn't
promote someone else's domain.
5. Use JavaScript redirect. Because this initially hides the affiliate link, it
should reduce commission thefts.
3) Opt-In Page Secrets!
Opinions vary as to what a squeeze page is. Some say it’s a landing page,
lead generation page, or a lead capture page.
I will give you my opinion on what a squeeze page means to me.
It’s like when you squeeze an orange our intent is to get the juice out and you
need to squeeze it really hard to get the most of it,
right? So it’s the same thing with a squeeze page for your business.
On this page is where you persuade and tell your visitors the benefits or what
they’re going to get if they signup, and in order for them to give their information
like name and email address.
You have to show them that they can’t live without what you have to offer.
Basically the main purpose of this page is to collect names and emails to build a
list so you can market to this particular crowd or market in the future which is
great idea if you’re selling a product or services.
Let’s say within 6 months you manage to build a list of 10,000 potential
buyers, you can then email these people to offer or promote your products.
Out of 10,000 people if you have only 3% of them that buy your product, which
is 300 people and you’re selling your product for $25.00 that’s a whooping
$7,500 in one email blast.
Of course this is just an example to elaborate on my explanation. But you see
the potential though! So really if your selling something on the internet either a
product or services you need to utilize a squeeze page to gain all the
advantages in the future.
The biggest question though is how are you going to create a squeeze page
that is effective and have your visitors to signup with out hesitation? OK! Stay
with me and I will show you in a sec!
You know if you’re one of my readers or subscribers I always make things
easy for you to understand and most of the time I show you or demonstrate
what I’m talking about to make your life easier right?
So here you go! To create an effective squeeze page it’s not that difficult but it
requires multiple testing’s and what I usually do is run a split test and find out
which one will give me great results.
But first you need to come up with something to giveaway in exchange for their
name and email, this can be a short report, ebook, MP3 (audio), or Video,
and tell them that they can download or access this valuable information when
they signup.
Let’s Begin…
Firstly, I’ll run through the most important elements of an opt-in and then I’ll run
through a number of different ways of formatting the webpage.
So here are the important elements that you should bear in mind…
1. The Headline…
As with any page, the headline is easily most important aspect because it is
your one and only chance to grab the visitor’s attention to make sure they read
the rest of the page.
2. Creating a Sense of Urgency…
Create a sense of urgency by making it clear that unless they take action NOW
they’ll be missing out on something VALUABLE. For instance, they’d have to
pay $97 if they returned to the page tomorrow; or that there are only 7or 8
bonuses (that you are using as an incentive) remaining… Or that the offer ends
at ‘midnight tonight’ which you can back up by using a date script that changes
automatically each day.
3. Trust & Credibility…
There are a number of different ways to emphasize this point by joining up with
various online companies, such as www.honestEonline.com or www.Truste.org
who will provide you with a selection of small graphics to place at the bottom of
your page in view of the subscription box. Another effective method is by placing
a relevant ‘TIME magazine’ cover on the page from their archive that can be
found here: www.time.com/time/coversearch .
If the product that you’re promoting has appeared on major news sites such as
Forbes or USA today etc (and many have through press releases) then add a
logo to your page too.
It is also crucial to put some sort of privacy statement underneath the
subscription box to inform your prospects that they can trust you with their email
address.
For instance, you should always include a line like “WE HATE SPAM: Our
privacy policy keeps your email address 100% secure and we will NEVER
give, sell or rent your email address ”… or words to that effect.
5. Believability…
This is more important with pre-sell and review pages but including a
photograph of yourself (or more likely one from a royalty free website) is a good
way of increasing believability and response.
In fact, I ran a simple test a few months back to determine whether having a
photo present in an opt-in page actually improved conversions or not.
It was in the health and dieting niche and I split tested two separate pages. One
with a photo. One without.
The result was that the landing pages that contained a photo won every time.
In fact, the difference was quite astounding with the subscription rates jumping
an average of 14%. Why? Well, I presume it has something to do with the visitor
having more confidence in what is being written if he or she can actually see
who’s writing it and in this particular niche (H&D) confidence is everything.
Having said this, these opt-in pages didn’t contain a huge amount of text: Just a
headline, a call to action and a ‘time sensitive offer’ as an incentive.
So as a rule of thumb, the less text you have on an opt-in page, the more need
there is for a photo. (If you don’t want to place a photo of yourself on your
website, just get a one from http://www.Flickr.com .)
6. Direct Instruction…
This is simply a direct instruction telling the prospect exactly ‘’how’’ to sign up to
receive the information.
Don’t forget, most people aren’t familiar with the concept of having to enter their
name and email into a box to receive information, so you have to tell them.
Nothing elaborate or clever is needed. Just say ‘Enter Your First Name And
Email Address Into The Form Below To Receive The Information’…etc. It’s an
obvious point but you’d be surprised at how many people forget to do this.
Squeeze page Example:
Ok, in terms of layout, this page is quite similar to the first one I showed you. It
has two headlines, a list of benefits and an opt-in box. However, there is one
crucial difference which is the inclusion of a Video!
Video’s are an element that I regularly use in landing pages, not just opt-ins but
review pages as well because not only can they be used as an effective selling
tool, they can also be a powerful pre-selling tool as well.
Let me explain the process and this is where it carries on from the previous
example…
What I do, after I’ve decided on a product to promote is to look to see if there
are any videos I can implement into my promotion on YouTube… and more
importantly whether they can be embedded into my webpage.
Now before you panic and think this is going to be complicated, it really isn’t.
I’ll give you an example of a Clickbank product called ‘Vince Del Monte Fitness’.
You can check it out here: http://www.vincedelmontefitness.com/home2.html
If you search You Tube, you’ll find numerous video’s relating to this program.
Some ar promotional and others instructional. Here’s an example:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sz_bfoJYBG4
So this one is an instructional video and if you went ahead and played it, you’ll
have noticed that this is ‘Video 5’ which evidently means that there are at least 4
others on there which make up a video series. More on this in a moment.
4) Set Up Your Follow-Up Email Series.
A follow-up series of emails is extremely important for both your potential
customers that you will be sending your affiliate program advertisements to as
well as to remind your sub-affiliates to get out there and begin promoting.
The main focus of your follow-up emails should be to continue to generate
interest in the product you are promoting, and/or to get your sub-affiliates to take
action.
Either way, you want everyone to take the action you desire from them.
Also, keep in mind that it takes a good 5 to 7 times to present one single product
offer to customers before they will take the action you desire.
So it stands to reason that a good follow-up automated emailing system will
accomplish this.
Here is an example sub-affiliate email template you can use:
Email #1: [Subject] Speedball Your Way To Easy Profits. . . Hi [FirstName],
I’m so excited that you have made the decision to join this insanely profitable
affiliate program. Sales are jutting through the roof, and I want you to see some of
those profits too.
So, the first step you will need to take [FirstName] is to log into your affiliate
account located at [AffiliateLoginURL] and begin utilizing all the top notch
promotional materials for you found there
The greatest mistake you could make would be not to do anything with this
program. It simply is an extremely easy way to generate money for yourself, and
all of the hard work has been done for you.
Sincerely,
[YourName]
Email #2: [Subject] The Sales Keep On Coming! Hi [FirstName],
Today has been simply amazing! All sorts of orders have been flowing in for
[ProductName] from affiliates. In fact, there were such a massive amount of
orders that the servers almost crashed!
I do hope you are one of the affiliates reaping the benefits.
If you aren't seeing any commissions coming your way, then I suggest you log
in to your affiliate account here [AffiliateLoginURL] and strike while the iron is
HOT! It's not too late to build up your bank account [FirstName]. All you need
to do is take some action and get busy promoting this highly polished jewel
right away.
Sincerely,
[YourName]
Email #3: [Subject] Surprise Announcement. . . Hi there [FirstName],
[YourName] here. Because there were such a mass amount of sales flooding in
for [ProductName], the affiliate owners have decided to award top affiliates with
amazing cash and prizes for their continual efforts and support!
As it stands now, the top affiliates will be awarded $[DollarAmount] for all their
promotional efforts within the next [TimeFrameAmount].
You can still steal the top spot [FirstName] before this affiliate contest ends. Just
log into your affiliate account here: [AffiliateLoginURL] and take the bull by the
horns!
Sincerely,
[YourName]
So on and so forth.
*Just continue to build on your first initial emailing and get your affiliates to take
action.
By sending out a pre-set follow-up system, you can effectively make affiliate
profits on autopilot from your 2nd tier affiliates while freeing up your time for other
projects.
5) Start Advertising with these Techniques Advanced!
1) Stealing Your Competitors Adwords Campaigns…
This is a little trick I use to create highly profitable PPC campaigns extremely
quickly whilst avoiding some of the tedious tasks like research, optimization and
testing.
Basically what this method entails is using a tool called Keyword Spy, something
you will have heard us talk about a few times before. In some instances,
Keyword Spy isn’t all that brilliant but for this method it can be highly
advantageous as I’m about to show you.
What Keyword Spy does is track other affiliates’ campaigns and then hands you
the most crucial data on them including the keywords, ads and the products that
are being promoted. As a result you can quickly analyze what is successfully
making money and then take this data and COPY the campaigns. You can get a
free trial of Keyword Spy here: (keywordspy http://url-ok.com/f6b9d5)
It’s a neat trick and it isn’t just limited to Clickbank either. They cover all of the
major affiliate networks such as Commission Junction, Linkshare, Tradedoubler,
Amazon and a few others.
Obviously, Keyword Spy is a paid tool, but for this method, you only need it for
one month in order to make this method work.
I’m just going to run through this step by step and explain what I’m doing and
why, then you can take action and hopefully start making some money.
Step 1
First of all, log into your Keyword Spy account and locate the search bar at the
top of the page where it says “begin your keyword search here”.
To get the ball rolling, just hit the ‘search’ button without typing anything in and
it’ll direct you to the ‘research’ page. Once on the research page, you’ll see a tab
called ‘affiliate keywords’. Hit that and then you’ll be shown these options:
The default here is Clickbank, but if it shows you another affiliate network, click
the ‘Clickbank’ sub-tab as shown in the screenshot above.
Step 2
What you are going to look for now are Adwords campaigns that are being run
by socalled ‘super affiliates’ with one thing in mind - to copy them and profit!
The first thing to do is look a little further down the page and you’ll see a section
called ‘Super Affiliates’. It looks like this:
On the right hand side, you are shown the top 10 Clickbank affiliates who get
traffic with Adwords and they are ranked based on the number of keywords and
products they promote. You can also hit the ‘view more affiliates’ link to see the
rest. (There are thousands!)
So what are we looking for?
Well, the main aim is to find an affiliate who is promoting multiple products with
a small number of keywords in each campaign. This is because we want to find
highly optimized promotions that we can replicate fast.
Campaigns with thousands of keywords will be more difficult to copy as they’ll
require additional and extensive testing and we want to make life as easy as
possible.
If you look at the chart in the previous screenshot, there is one affiliate who
stands out because he appears to be bidding on lots of products and fewer
keywords. As you can see, the Clickbank ID of this affiliate is ‘mboudet’. Right,
the next thing we want to do is to click on his affiliate ID (highlighted in blue) to
investigate what he’s up to in a little more detail.
Step 3
So after we’ve clicked on the affiliate ID, we are taken to a different page where
his results are shown in full.
Note: If the data is jumbled up, click the ‘product’ button as shown below and the
system will list all the products and keywords in the correct order like this:
Take a look at the above results. For each individual Clickbank product that he
is
promoting, you are given the exact keywords that he is bidding on within Google
Adwords.
What this shows, (assuming that he has optimized the campaign), are the exact
keywords that are MAKING HIM MONEY!
Let’s take a look at the first product on the list with the Clickbank ID ‘1236659’.
This product is located here: http://www.easywebvideo.com ...and is some type
of software that helps users place video’s on their websites.
The first thing to notice is that he’s only bidding on two keywords.
When this particular campaign was started, the chances are that he would have
been bidding on at least 50 keywords. As a result we can assume that the two
that remain are the ONLY ones he found to be profitable.
It’s the same thing for the next product on the list with the ID: ’20 bucks’. This is
the http://negativecaloriediet.com .
Again, he is only bidding on 9 keywords and because this is a niche where you
could formulate literally thousands of keyword variations, it is undoubtedly the
case that these 9 would have been whittled down from 50, 100 or even 500!
Again, these are likely to be the most profitable keywords for this specific
product.
Of course, there are pages and pages of amazing examples showing the exact
same thing as well as hundreds of other successful affiliates to check out.
Step 4
So what do you do with these results?
Well, the first thing to do is to go through the list of products that are being
promoted and see which ones you want to market.
The fastest way of doing this is by clicking the ‘products’ tab as you can see
below and all 147 will be listed in order so you won’t have to scan through pages
of keywords.
Then all you do is click on the name of each product and you’ll be shown the
keywords that are being bid on.
Then it’s time to take action by setting up an Adwords campaign and testing out
a few of these products to make some money.
I’m not going to go into how to create the Adwords campaigns because we
cover
that elsewhere. But what I would advise is to use a direct link to each of these
products using the keywords that you’ve snatched and if it’s successful and
you’re making money from that, then create a pre-sell page to really boost
conversions.
Just thing to note… If you click the ‘Ad Variations’ tab, you’ll be able to see the
exact ad which is being bid on for each keyword too. Make a few tweaks and
then use it.
So to wrap up, this is a pretty neat trick that’ll get you on your way to a
successful campaign in no time at all… and of course, as ever, once you’ve
found one that works, leave it to run, start on the next on one and gradually build
up your profits from there.

2) Find Your Keywords.
You need to now find some keywords you are going to use to promote your
squeeze page and e-course. If you had chosen weight loss, for example, as
your niche, don’t use highly competitive keywords like “weight loss”, you want
to use what are known as long tail keywords.
These are more like key phrases, but are ones that are not as competitive or
searched for as often. As such, they are easier to be ranked in the search
engines.
One of the best free keyword research tool is at WordTracker at
http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com
or: https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal
All you need to do is enter your generic keyword, e.g. weight loss, and click
the button. You are going to scroll down the page and find keywords with
something between 300 and about 3000 searches per month.
Using Weight Loss as an example, you can see that the keyword “weight loss”
itself has almost 650,000 searches a month! Great keyword to get listed for
but highly competitive and will take some work. (Note: by using long tail
keywords containing your main keyword such as weight loss program, weight
loss diet, weight loss goal, etc, you will find yourself being listed for the main
keyword weight loss. It’s better to target the keywords with the lower number
of searches as you will see results quicker.)
So if you were targeting the weight loss market you would not choose weight
loss as a keyword. You are better off choosing keywords like “weight loss
goal” which has about 3,300 searches a month or “free online weight loss diet”
which has around 3,700 searches a month.
If you search on Google for your keyword within quote marks, i.e. “free online
weight loss diet” you discover how many sites are competing for that precise
keyword. Without the quotes your search will display any site using any of the
keywords. Searching for “free online weight loss diet” on Google reveals there
are just over 45,000 competing sites. This means to you, it’s relatively easy to
get ranked for this keyword.
You need to pick up around 8-15 keywords initially that describe your product
and meet the criteria discussed above.
3)Get Traffic From Twitter.
What Is Twitter?
What is Twitter? Well, where have you been.. LOL? Twitter would have to be
the fastest growing site on the web today. It is taking the internet by storm
and there are around 10,000 new users per day signing up to participate in
this internet revolution.
Twitter is best described as a micro blogging platform. You are limited to 140
characters each time you do an update, which initially, may seem a small
amount. However, as you become more experienced, it's just amazing what
you can fit into 140 characters.
That said, Twitter is much, much more than that. It is like one huge global
chat room, but then again, it doesn't have to be. It all depends on how many
people you follow on Twitter. If it's in the thousands, then your “Tweetstream”
will be running fast and furious with everything that's coming in. If you are
only following a few hundred, or even less, then things are much easier to
keep up with.
Twitter is also a great way to meet new people online, particularly those with
similar interests to you. I will show you how to do this more as we progress
thorugh this report.
Finally, I am going to show you the real marketing power of twitter.
Building Your Business With Twitter!
The first thing you should do as a new twitter user is to set up your profile, so
that those visiting your page see that you are active within the community and
are far more likely to follow you. One of the biggest mistakes that new twitter
marketers make is in immediately adding contacts to their following list, without
having issued out tweets, updated their profile or uploaded a photo of
themselves.
This makes sense if you already have an online presence and are simply
incorporating your current contacts from your address book or mailing list, but if
you are currently working to establish your brand or grow your business, it’s
critical that you develop your twitter presence first, and then add or invite new
followers. This begins with your profile page, the entry point that every potential
follower visits prior to adding you as a contact.
You need to make sure that you complete your profile and that you provide
useful information about yourself so that people can either identify you, or at the
very least, know what you are offering, are involved in or are interested in.
There are a few different fields relating to your profile that should never be left
out, including your full name and your website URL.
Since your username becomes part of your twitter profile’s URL, you should also
make sure that you use a username that is relevant to your market, niche or
represents your business. You can choose to use your name, if it’s available for
registration, your website URL, business name or simply keywords representing
the market you are involved in. Personally, I recommend that if at all possible,
use your full name as your twitter username, so that your profile URL is
structured like this: http://twitter.com/Jane-Doe or http://twitter.com/JaneDoe
One thing that a lot of people don’t know is that the keywords featured within
your actual twitter profile URL tie directly in with twitters built in search utility,
meaning that whenever someone searches for information using specific
keywords, twitter searches through profiles and usernames to pull relevant
search results. This means that you should always include your primary
keywords within your profile fields, including your bio area, so that you are far
more likely to be included in search results each time someone enters in a
relevant keyword associated with your market.
It’s important to determine what brand you are creating on twitter. If you run
multiple websites or businesses, use different names (pen names) or business
names, you will need to consider the best approach to take. Do you want to
create a single twitter account that serves as an all-in-one contact center for
your different markets, or is it better to create multiple twitter accounts, each one
focusing on your different businesses and markets?
Even with twitter’s simplistic structure, and the vast amount of tools that are
available to help automate your activity and in building a following, you’ll still
need to spend time actively participating within the twitter community, if you
want to further your business and maximize your exposure.
This can be exceptionally difficult to do if you are running and managing multiple
twitter accounts, so take that into consideration when you are developing your
twitter account and choosing your main focus. From personal experience, I find
that by separating my tweets and activity for each of my main markets helps
keep things organized and on track.
I manage four different twitter accounts, each serving a different community
base, covering mainstream internet marketing to micro niche subjects.
Since the topics I cover are so different, the only way to successfully market my
services via twitter, was to create multiple accounts that run independently from
each other. This also allows me to send out multiple tweets (messages) for each
of my markets, rather than confusing potential buyers by using one account that
randomly broadcasts messages covering multiple niches. Twitter has absolutely
no problem with people opening up multiple accounts, however you must
actively use these accounts in order to keep them.
If you allow an account to go dormant and un-used for a period of time, twitter
reserves the right to terminate the account and open up the possibility of
someone else registering that username, so if you do intend on creating multiple
twitter accounts, make sure that you log in regularly to keep them active. From
within your twitter account, you will be able to add in a short bio. This field is
exceptionally important! Once again, with twitters search function, it pulls
information from users’ bios to match them up with keywords entered into the
search engine.
This means that you should include keywords that are relevant to your niche
market, so that you are able to maximize exposure by being included in search
results whenever another twitter user enters in those keywords. Your bio
shouldn’t showcase just keywords, however. You also want to ensure that you
provide a bit of information about yourself, so that people who aren’t familiar
with you can get to know who you are, and consider following you. Your bio
field, just like any twitter broadcast you send out, is also limited to only 140
characters, so you’ll need to take some time to determine the best terms to
describe yourself and your business. Separate keywords with comma’s so that
each keyword is individually placed: Example: Social marketer, writer, online
business, speaker
There are other settings that you can configure to suit your preferences, and to
help you with the twitter commands and other customization options, I’ve
included a ‘Twitter Handbook” in the zip file from this package, so be sure to go
through it and make sure that your twitter account is set up and tweaked before
going any further. When you are satisfied with your account, it’s time to write
your first tweet! This can make people a little anxious, especially since once you
post a tweet, everyone who visits your profile or chooses to follow you will be
able to see it.
With twitter, if you ever want to delete a message that you previously sent out,
all you have to do is click on the tweet, look for the trash can icon and click it, to
delete your message from the time line. There is also the option to mark
specific tweets as favorites, which will make it easy for you to locate that tweet
later on, once you have multiple messages in the time line. When it comes to
writing tweets, don’t spend a lot of time worrying about whether it’s creative
enough, witty enough, or interesting enough.
Once you have become an active member of the twitter community, you’ll find it
easier to think of entertaining and useful tweets, and will also be able to respond
to ongoing discussions from those you follow and who follow you. For now, post
whatever’s on your mind. Working on a website? Post about it. Perhaps you’ve
found an interesting website or news story, post about it.
The idea is to simply post enough so that you become comfortable with the
twitter system, and more importantly, so that your profile page shows activity
before you start inviting people to follow you. Once you’ve posted your first
tweet, it’s time to start following people on twitter, so that you can build up your
twitter presence, and encourage people to follow you in return. Don’t just sign up
and blast out ads every few minutes expecting to achieve anything but annoying
those on your list.
Take the time to talk to people individually by directing messages to specific
people, post useful information or links to free products and resources that
people in your various niche markets would appreciate. Just like anything else
you need to develop a reputation on Twitter as being someone who is interested
in helping others, while developing your own Twitter presence. A great thing
about Twitter is the ability to quickly locate other people who are involved in your
target market, or industry.
For example, if you are looking to find people to interview who may be
experienced in specific things, you can find many people who are involved in
nearly every topic and subject online.
It’s like a rolodex of the entire online business industry, and as Twitter continues
to grow, more and more people are jumping on board, so expect to see Twitter
evolve and change to improve their system and add more interactive, productive
features that will make it even easier for use to reach out to other users. Posting
subtle little updates about your current projects, websites, blogs and products is
an easy way to keep people up to date on what you are doing, even people who
otherwise might not know who you are, or what you do.
The way you present your updates, and the frequency in which you do it,
(avoiding Twitter spamming) is critical in staying current and helping your brand
become memorable, and noticed by the community.
4)Google Adwords For Affiliate Marketing
Pay-Per-Click?
Pay-per-click (PPC) advertising is also known as “pay for performance”
advertising...kind of like affiliate marketing in reverse.
Most pay-per-click advertising opportunities are found on search engines such
as Google – however -- sites like Ebay are also getting into the game these
days.
You, as the advertiser, place 'classifieds' style advertisements which show up on
the PPC search engine whenever someone searches on keywords you specify.
In other words, you tell the PPC program which targeted keywords you want
your ads to show up on, and your ads are automatically triggered to display any
time someone enters in those keywords.
The displays of your ads on the PPC programs (known as “impressions”) are
free. However, when someone clicks on your advertisement, you are charged
for that click. The amount you are charged per click depends in part on what
other advertisers are paying.
Let's say one of your keywords/phrases is: “natural weight loss”. The highest
bidder on that key phrase is paying $1.00 per click for it.
In order to be #1 in the results, you would have to bid $1.01.
However, you don't necessarily have to bid that amount for your advertisement
to appear in the top eight listing. The bid for the 2nd slot might be as low as 10
cents. It all depends on what you're competition is doing.
You could get away with bidding as low as 5 cents per click if necessary.
The good thing is that, with programs like Google Adwords, your ad ranking is
dynamic.
That number one spot is based on more than just being the highest bidder.
Google adjusts rankings based on click-through rate and other performance
factors.
The better your ad performs, the more your bid drops...meaning that you could
climb to that number one spot for less than the $1.00 your competition is paying!
Why Use PPC: One of the biggest reasons pay-per-click advertising is so
popular is that it allows advertisers to appear in the major search engines for
their desired keywords and phrases.
You see, there are literally billions of web pages indexed in these search
engines. In the most competitive or popular niches, it is almost impossible for a
smaller business to rank in the top ten, natural search results.
Once pay-per-click hit the scene, businesses could begin advertising on any
keyword of their choice.
In fact, overall reach is expanded because you can advertise on literally
hundreds, if not thousands, of keywords you believe are targeted to your
market.
This limitless targeting ability represents the true value of pay-per-click
advertising.
You can advertise on any keyword you want, any time of the day or night. As
long as people are searching on those keywords, your ad will be there in front of
people.
Where: There are dozens of search engines offering pay-per-click advertising
opportunities.
The most popular is Google's program: Google Adwords:
http://adwords.google.com
Now, fair warning is in order…
Due to Google's enormous popularity, you'll see far more competition (and
higher bid prices),
but you simply can't afford not to advertise on Google.
It’s the number one search engine online, and receives the lion's share of daily
search activity.
The next best source of PPC traffic comes from Google's competitor, Yahoo!
Yahoo took over a company called Overture, which used to manage activity on
about a dozen other medium to small search engines.
This network remains mostly unchanged, but now goes by the name, 'Yahoo
Search Marketing'
The rest of the PPC game comes down a handful of mid-sized engines:
http://www.LookSmart.com
http://www.Mamma.com
http://www.GoClick.com
http://www.Miva.com
http://www.Kanoodle.com
http://www.AbcSearch.com
Last, but not least, MSN recently launched its own PPC program to challenge
Google:http://Advertising.Microsoft.com/microsoft-adcenter .
Results are still coming on the effectiveness of MSN search, but it looks very
promising.
How to: Now for the part I know you've been waiting for. How do create and run
a successful pay per click campaign? What is that you actually put onto these
sites? Well, let's start with the basics…
The first thing you need is a list of targeted keywords/key phrases for your
advertising.
The best places to build your keyword/key phrase list are as follow(all are
free)…
Wordtracker Free Keyword Suggestion Tool:
http://www.FreeKeywords.WordTracker.com
Digital Point Keyword Suggestion Tool:
http://www.DigitalPoint.com/tools/suggestion
Niche Bot Classic:
http://www.NicheBotClassic.com
Google AdWords Keyword Tool:
https://Adwords.Google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal
As an affiliate of XX Product, you'll want to target people who are looking for
affiliate marketing opportunities and information.
What are some related keywords you can think of for this market?
Some quick ones I've come up with: “affiliate marketing tips”, “affiliate marketing
tips”, “learn affiliate marketing”
Now, if you go to your favorite keywords research tool and run some searches
on those terms, you can gather up an expanded list of keywords and key phrase
variations, like these:
“affiliate marketing help”
“affiliate marketing opportunity”
“affiliate incentive marketing”
“affiliate marketing course”
“affiliate marketing make money”, etc.
You want to collect as many of these as you can. I recommend setting up a
spreadsheet or some similar type of document to organize all of your keywords.
Next: Once you have a good sized list of these keywords, you'll create “mini-
classifieds” type advertisements for them.
You can create unique ads for each unique keyword, or you can create one ad
to cover an entire group of close related keywords (eg, use the same ad for
“affiliate marketing tips”, “affiliate marketing hints”, etc).
Style and Requirements of Your Ads:
This will vary slightly from engine to engine, but most all follow roughly the same
format. We'll use Google's requirements for our example here, as they're the
easiest to learn.
A typical Google Ad has the following characteristics:
1. A Headline
2. Body Copy
3. Display URL
In the real world, your advertisement will look something like this:
Learn Affiliate Marketing
Make money while you learn..
Free report shows how.
http://www.Yourlink-affiliate.com
Let's look at the requirements:
Headline: Limited to 25 characters
First Line: Limited to 35 characters
Second Line: Limited to 35 characters
URL: Limited to 35 characters
As you can see, you have a very short space in which to work.
This is both a good and a bad thing. It’s bad in that it will take you a little longer
to craft an ad that fits into the allotted space.
Yet, it’s good in that you'll get a crash course in brushing up your copy writing
skills by learning to pack more power into fewer words.
Also, please note that spaces, commas, periods and any other punctuation all
count towards towards reaching your character limit.
Things that are not allowed:
Google has some content rules you need to follow as well. There are certain
words you can not use, and even certain spelling and grammar mistakes are not
permitted.
The main thing you want to avoid is making universal “calls to action” in your ad
copy.
Google won't allow you to say things like “Click here”, “Click this link”, etc.
For an in-depth look at all the rules, check Google's Editorial Guidelines:
http://www.Google.com/base/help/guidelines.html
More How To: Ok, so what exactly are you doing with these advertisements?
Essentially, you're trying to get people to click over to your website. The
headline of your
Advertisement will be a active hyperlink that people can click.
Now, the interesting thing is that Google allows you to have both a “destination
url” and a “display url”.
The destination url is the url visitors will be sent to once they click. The display
url can be the same as the destination url, but usually we like to create
something that looks more attractive to potential visitors.
http://XXXXXXX.com/go.php?offer=YOURAFFILIATEID&pid=1
While your display url is simply:
http://www.XXXXXXXX.com
One neat trick you can use to grab attention is to put “power words” into your
URL.
Let's say you create a special folder on your own website for a free report you're
giving away:
www.YourWebsite.com/freereport
Set this up on your server and use it as both the destination and the display url.
It should go to one of your landing pages, where you have your opt-in form
ready to collect names andemail addresses in exchange for the report.
This little trick has been proven to increase click-through. People love free stuff.
