  • 1. What is a living space? What has this got to do with geography? Topic 3
  • 2. Attachments to places
    • People naturally have different attachments to places
    • We put these attachments into two overall categories:
    • Functional attachments : are attachments to things that give you what you need: food, water shelter etc.
    • Emotional attachments: are attachments to places that are emotional; feelings, moods and emotions people have about the place
  • 3. Why learn about living spaces?
    • This is a fairly new geographical topic to be taught on its own, so it is important to think about how learning about living spaces fit into geography
    • Can you think of other geographical topics that contain the idea of living spaces?

    • Why is this?
    • What has South Cambs got that makes it such a good living space?
    • Imagine you are trying to ‘sell’ South Cambs to a specific group of people.. Come up with a sales pitch
