  • 1. 12/3/2007 7:10 PM Find (on this page): Ctrl+F Search December 1, 2007 Do you want to know the real tragedy? No, of course you don't, you want to wallow in ignorance and petty self-aggrandizement, but I'll tell you anyway. Money, that's what. Nobody can know anything they don't pay for and what you pay for rots your brain. It's a vicious circle. There is no God but Money and Oprah Winfrey is His Messenger. Here's how it works. There are these rich guys, see. They're from all over the world and they entertain themselves and derive pride and joy from accumulating wealth by starving, subjugating, enslaving and torturing billions of poor people. How fun. Rich guys use the all-pervasive, unassailable media and entertainment industries as their own private propaganda apparatus to keep you so stupid you buy the boatloads of the useless crap they need to sell in order to accumulate wealth. It's not just things, either. You morons buy the absurd notions they sell you, too...things like "democracy" and "free speech" and a "free press." Ha! Stalin in his wildest dreams never came up with a gulag like the gulag you're living in. Nothing you can read or hear or see or learn in school isn't a lie. The only function you have your whole life is
  • 2. to buy more and more worthless junk. You've got the minds of sheep; you're conditioned from birth to believe what your shepherds get paid to tell you and what they get paid to tell you is vile, money grubbing balderdash. Root, root, root for the home team. Vote. Eat at McDonald's. Hate who and what your owners want you to hate; love who and what your owners want you to love. Keep your nose to the grindstone. Mind your manners. Covet everything anyone else has. Do unto others before they do unto you. Spend more money than you make. Live for tomorrow. Ack. It's stupid to tell you how stupid you are. If you want to see an example of something that's not a lie, something that won't rot your brain and won't keep you stupid, something you can't 12/3/2007 7:10 PM buy for all the money in the world, go read the new version of Ginny Good I just stuck up. It's free. Like me. You won't do that, of course. You'd rather wallow in the ignorance and petty self-aggrandizement your owners keep you wallowing in for their own vile, money grubbing reasons. Anything free can't be of any value, can it? No. If it were of value it would be for sale. Lord, what fools these mortals be! G. Gerard Jones Tennessee Tennessean 1100 Broadway

  • 11. Andy Owens, Assistant Managing Editor @ 12/3/2007 7:10 PM What things don't you like, Gerard? You've piqued my curiosity, though I'm still unsure why you would label me personally as worthless, superfluous, chickenhearted, money-grubbing, Nazi, and moron. I doubt that you've worked in the newspaper industry or you would know that we aren't in it for the cash. Andy I don't like that with enough hype black becomes white, that a person's value is what he or she's worth in money, that bad books are called good and good books are called bad, that yes you have all the free speech and free press you want but the distribution network is locked up tighter than any Nazi, fascist, police state and all anyone ever gets to see or hear or read is entertaining propaganda that keeps people from knowing they're

It's not "big" money, no, but it's a living and you do what you're told to do or you get fired. In addition to all those other things, you're brainwashed, as well. It's not your fault, you sound like a decent enough guy, 12/3/2007 7:10 PM but the totality of what you've been exposed to since you were born has made you do your part to grow the GDP by five percent a year. Period. You think you're brave. You think you're free. You think you matter. Ha! Quit parroting the company line, the company policy, the company dogma for a minute or two and you'll see how much you matter, how brave you are, how free. Thanks. G. Skirt! Beth As I said in my original e-mail, I'll happily put a mark (666) by your name to remind me not to send you any more e-mails...since you don't read 'em anyway, what would be the point, right? But as for what I do with my website I suggest you have a quick glance at the first amendment. Thanks. G. Dear Gerard: I would appreciate it if you would please remove me from your distribution list. Regarding the First Amendment, I am very familiar with what it states. I do not wish to get into discussion or debate with you about what it states. However it might interest you to know that the First Amendment only applies to government acts of censorship, not to acts by private citizens. Therefore, kindly take any references to SPJ off of your Web site. Thanks again. Beth
  • 41. Dear Beth: You are "off" my distribution list. Other than to 12/3/2007 7:10 PM answer you I won't send you any more e-mails, but the e-mail addresses of certain members of the SPJ are on its website and are therefore common, readily available knowledge to anyone who knows how to use Google. Get Google to remove them and remove them from your website, then get back to me. I consider "professional journalists" tools of a vast, monolithic propaganda apparatus, the Eiffel Tower of propaganda that makes what Joseph Goebbels did in Nazi Germany look like Tinker Toys. Wouldn't it have been nice if someone had tried to point that out in 1937 or 1938 or 1939? I'm trying, among other things, to point it out. Your grandchildren will thank me. The First Amendment says among other things
  • 42. that there can't be any laws made against free speech and/or a free press. If you think there's a valid law against using Google, sue me.
