  2. 2. You don’t need to drill to know what's going on beneath your feet. XDT uses passive seismic signals to accurately describe the subsurface.

  5. 5. XDT provides innovative and proven techniques of analysis. There aren’t any black boxes here.
  6. 6. Shear wave splitting – can be used in identifying fissures and other anisotropic elements. Click the earthquake circle below. Earthquake Seismometers Subsurface cracks and fissures When the shear waves generated from the earthquake propagate through the cracks, polarization occurs. The different arrival times from the split s-waves can be measured to model where the foliation or fissures occur.

Earthquake Seismometers Subsurface Body When passive seismic waves propagate through differing bodies, attenuation and changes in velocity occur. The different arrival times and amplitudes can be measured to model the properties and locations of the subsurface bodies.
