    • At Microsoft, we work to help people and businesses throughout the world realize their full potential. This is our mission. Everything we do reflects this mission and the values that make it possible.
    • As a company, and as individuals, we value:
    • Integrity and honesty .
    • Passion for customers , for our partners, and for technology.
    • Openness and respectfulness .
    • Taking on big challenges and seeing them through.
    • Constructive self-criticism , self-improvement , and personal excellence .
    • Accountability to customers, shareholders, partners, and employees for commitments, results, and quality.
    • To enable people and businesses throughout the world to realize their full potential. (I looked for a mission statement for MSN but couldn't find one. I would think, however, that it would contribute and align to Microsoft's overall mission which is also broad - tying an individual's potential to a computer. A stretch in my view, but a worthy challenge.)
    • Since our inception in 1982, the vision of "The Network is the Computer" has evolved into the Participation Age. We see everyone and everything participating on the network.
    • To create the technologies and fuel the communities that power the Participation Age.
    • We engineer solutions for our customers' biggest, most important problems. We share our solutions to grow communities, increase participation, and create world-changing new market opportunities. We will build and run the world's participation infrastructure to make sure the job is done right.
    • Our mission is to be the most essential global Internet service for consumers and businesses.
    • Excellence: We are committed to winning with integrity. We know leadership is hard won and should never be taken for granted. We aspire to flawless execution and don't take shortcuts on quality. We seek the best talent and promote its development. We are flexible and learn from our mistakes.
    • Innovation: We thrive on creativity and ingenuity. We seek the innovations and ideas that can change the world. We anticipate market trends and move quickly to embrace them. We are not afraid to take informed, responsible risk.
    • Customer Fixation: We respect our customers above all else and never forget that they come to us by choice. We share a personal responsibility to maintain our customers' loyalty and trust. We listen and respond to our customers and seek to exceed their expectations.
    • Teamwork: We treat one another with respect and communicate openly. We foster collaboration while maintaining individual accountability. We encourage the best ideas to surface from anywhere within the organization. We appreciate the value of multiple perspectives and diverse expertise.
    • Community: We share an infectious sense of mission to make an impact on society and empower consumers in ways never before possible. We are committed to serving both the Internet community and our own communities.
    • Fun: We believe humor is essential to success. We applaud irreverence and don't take ourselves too seriously. We celebrate achievement. We yodel
    • Is to be the most essential global Internet service for consumers and businesses. (Very similar to AOL: to become the most important internet service in the world; also very ambitious.)
    • Dedication to every client's success
    • Innovation that matters, for our company and for the world
    • Trust and personal responsibility in all relationships
    • Is to build a global medium as central to people's lives as the telephone or television... and even more valuable. (This is a pretty broad mission statement. My take on this is that AOL wants to do to the internet what RCA did to the television)
    • Is to deliver the most relevant answers to your everyday searches. (This is a very simple, clear mission - and it's strictly tied to search. The only one I've seen, from all the search engines, which explicitly says this.)
    • Is to provide access to information to the global community, and they are dedicated to setting the standard for search technology and how people find information. (Even though they are now part of the Yahoo! network, I thought it was worth mentioning. The line I like is "setting the standard for search technology. They can still do this for Yahoo! Altavista now becomes the breeding ground for new technology which then rolls over to Yahoo!)
    • With these principles, which are incorporated into the design of our software, we have coordinated and streamlined all our business processes worldwide.
    • Simplify: Speed information delivery with integrated systems and a single database.
    • Standardize: Reduce cost and maintenance cycles with open, easily available components.
    • Automate: Improve operational efficiency with technology and best practices.
