  • 3. 1.Create a NicheAmitabh Bachchan enteredthe Indian film industry whenit was dominated by actors likeRajesh Khanna, Dharmendra, SunilDutt and Dev Anand.While most were comfortable playing the romantichero, he took up the challenge of doing action films, thus creating a niche for himself.His success in filmslike Deewar, Zanjeer and Sholay saw him nicknamedthe angry young man of Hindi cinema. And it is worth noting that he worked on 13 box officedisasters before finally tasting success.Dr A Jagan Mohan Reddy
  • 4. 2. Dont take No for An AnswerA still from the movie Kaala Patthar, for which MrBachchan received the Filmfare Best Actor Award]It seems unbelievable that Mr Bachchan was oncerejected by broadcaster All India Radio because they didnot like his voice.Ironically, today the actors deep baritoneand impeccable dialogue delivery haveacquired iconic status.He has, in fact, worked as a playback singer for 29movies and in 2005, even lent his voice as narrator to LucJacquets Oscar-winning French documentary, March ofthe Penguins.Dr A Jagan Mohan Reddy
  • 5. 3. Accept Failure, but Never Give up Bachchan Senior has hosted five of the six seasons ofKaun Banega CrorepatiIn 1995, three years into semi-retirement from thefilm industry, Big B founded Amitabh BachchanCorporation Limited, an event management andproduction firm.Although the company achieved considerable success in its firstyear thanks to the Miss World Pageant, which it produced in1996, it was soon mired in controversy. It subsequently sufferedcrippling losses, forcing Mr Bachchan to take up acting again inorder to cope with massive business debts.In July 2000, he came back with a bang to host the firstinstalment of reality series Kaun Banega Crorepati, which wenton to become the most watched TV show in the country.Dr A Jagan Mohan Reddy
  • 6. 4.Learn from EveryoneAlthough Amitabh Bachchan is an experiencedprofessional in his field, he believes that learning is anongoing process.Hes worked with junior co-stars anddirectors half his age, but hes never reported tothrow tantrums or push his weight around on set orotherwise.A directors actor, he tells us that one must be eagerto learn through life.: A scene from Ek Ajnabee, in which Amitabh Bachchan plays an ex-Army officerDr A Jagan Mohan Reddy
  • 7. 5. Give Everything Your 100 per centBe it his insistence to do action movies or his choice ofworking on projects like Boom and Nishabd, whichbombed at the box office, the actor has always given his100 per cent, never shying away from criticism or badreviews.His dedication to his craft is apparent in the movie Paa.To get into character, Bachchan Senior had to spend fourto five hours everyday donning prosthetic makeup, postwhich he could not eat or drink normally -- and it tooktwo hours after each shoot to get rid of it.Despite his age and seniority, he did not complain once, which is the mark of a true professional. Paa remains oneof his best performances to date.Dr A Jagan Mohan Reddy
  • 8. Speaking of professionalism, in one of his interviewsthe actor famously remarked, "Frankly Ive neverreally subscribed to these adjectives tagging me as anicon, superstar etc. Ive always thought of myself asan actor doing his job to the best of his ability.“: Amitabh Bachchan received the National Award forhis performance in Paa -- he played a child with progeriaDr A Jagan Mohan Reddy
  • 9. 6. Forgive and Forget But Never Lose Sight of the Bigger PictureIn an industry where feuds are rampant and superstarsoften have camps taking sides, Mr Bachchan comesacross as one of the more mature and dignifiedpersonalities.To be sure, he has had his share of fall-outs, which areinevitable -- the Gandhi family, Shah Rukh Khan, AmarSingh, Anurag Kashyap, various media publications -- buttheres no denying that the senior actor does not believe inmud-slinging and has graciously moved on from most fall-outs, often extending a warm hand of friendship to formernemeses.He has never used the media as a tool, as so manycelebrities often do, to lash out at his detractors.Dr A Jagan Mohan Reddy
  • 10. They are currently at loggerheads, but Mr Bachchan has often spoken of howAmar Singh helped him in times of crises7. You may be Rich and Famous, but youre never above anyoneAmitabh Bachchan is one of the few stars thattake their iconic status seriously.His interactions with his fans and the press aregenerally warm and gracious, and he makes avisible effort to remain humble and grounded.Wherever he goes, the paparazzi follow. Anddespite the constant attention, which can get to themost patient of people, he manages to keep his cool and handles theshutterbug invasion with a smile, posing for them, answeringquestions and leaving them satisfied.On one such occasion, the actor even tweeted to his thousands offollowers: Dearest TV media and vans outside my home, please donot stress and work so hard.No matter who you are, he willacknowledge you.Dr A Jagan Mohan Reddy
  • 11. 8. Give Back to SocietyFrom his decision to support the nationwide poliocampaign to his association with various charityorganizations, Amitabh Bachchan has always foundthe time to give back to society.In fact, his reputation as a patron of charities is such thatthe Silver Star Diabetes Centre, a UK-based clinic, presented him with a mobile diabetes-testing unit onbehalf of the city of Mumbai as a 70th birthday present.The first of its kind, the mobile clinic will be namedAmitabh in his honour.Dr A Jagan Mohan Reddy
  • 12. 9. Respect the ParentsAttend any event where Amitabh Bachchan ispresiding and chances are you will get to hear himquote a few lines of poetry by his father, the lateHarivansh Rai Bachchan.Big B finds special purpose in revisiting his fathers poems -- tohim, its a way of paying tribute to the man who raised him.In November 2011, on his ninth death anniversary, he tweeted,"In prayer and in thoughts with him ...a great human, greatmind, and a great Father!! All that I am is because of him...hisguidance, his morals, his culture and his ethics...now just fondmemories of his to live with."He also often cites the late Teji Bachchan, whose love of thestage propelled her son towards a career in entertainment, as asource of love and support. Two years after her death in 2007, hewas admitted to the same hospital room in which she spent herlast days.:Dr A Jagan Mohan Reddy
  • 13. • 14. 10. Have Respect for other peoples time and always bepunctualThey say time is money and that particularly holds true inthe movie industry, where an actors tardiness can costmoviemakers lakhs, if not crores.B-Town biggies have a notorious reputation for holding upshoots, strolling onto sets five hours late, throwingtantrums that cause setbacks to the schedule and delayingprojects by months, sometimes, even years. Not AmitabhBachchan. One of very few stars known for theirpunctuality, he is apologetic even if hes kept you waiting afew short minutes.In fact, at a charity event held in Mumbai last month, theactor emphasised that if there was one attribute thatanyone should borrow from him, it should be hispunctuality and value for anothers time.Dr A Jagan Mohan Reddy
