Today: Social media, that is, conversations.
Anybody out there listening?
Conversations require listening.
But everybody’s still too busy pushing content.
How do we (re)learn to listen?
 
Take a deep breath.
Can we tawk?
No.
Not until we learn to listen.
Do you listen to customers?
Really? Prove it.
Zappos listens.
Zappos ensures listening by not telling their people what to say.
No script means they have to listen.
No script means they have to hire people who want to listen.
No script means culture has to be so rich and tangible that it nourishes the right thing to say.
No script requires knowledge, passion, and willingness to care and dare.
Some people call that “jazz”.
No script doesn’t mean no structure. Culture drives structure.
Structure creates discipline.
Discipline doesn’t mean rigidity.  It means doing the right thing most/all the time.
Discipline leads to creativity.
Creativity leads to freedom.
Freedom means fanatical employees and customers.
Freedom means success.
Freedom means you get to keep doing something that makes you happy.
