2. About IEEE-VBIT SB Student Branch formed in the year 2006,with a strength of 42 student members. Current Strength of the Student Branch is134. 10 Faculty members. Formed 3 Student Branch Chapters (CS,PES,COMSOC) and a WIE Affinity Group
3. How does IEEE-VBIT SB work ? First Year: 1. We introduce IEEE to the first year student over a Membership Initiation Program where we brainstorm with the benefits of IEEE and activities in our Student Branch. 2. We encourage them to participate in SB events and section activities. 3. We conduct specific activities for the first years to keep them motivated. 4. One such activity is Avishkar (detailed explanation in the attachment along with this mail)
4. How does IEEE-VBIT SB work ? (Cont.) Second Year: 1. We provide them opportunities to take responsibilities here. The event Avishkar is organized only by the second year student members. 2. We have a news letter (attached along with the mail) published by the student branch where the composition of the editorial board is of second year student members. 3. We give them the ownership to conduct Membership Initiation Programs in our SB as well as the other colleges. 4. We give them opportunity to take up leadership in organizing few weekly activities.
5. How does IEEE-VBIT SB work ? (Cont.) Third Year: 1.We have elections for student to take charge of the Student Branch Operations. 2.We have 3 Student Branch chapters, one affinity group so lot off opportunities for students to get into leadership positions.
6. How does IEEE-VBIT SB work ? (Cont.) Final Year: 1. Leaders move into a mentors role will b busy in identifying future leaders and guiding young leaders with their respective role. 2. Participate and involve in the section activities. 3. Gradually become GOLD volunteers at the section level.

8. Achievements Won the Outstanding SB award in Hyderabad Section for the year 2010. Won the Vibrant SB award for 2010. Chaitanya won the Richard -E-Merwin award. Chaitanya was the SSR for 2010. Karthik Siddavaram is the SSR for the year 2011. Won the All India Student Project Contest in 2008.
