Natural Ventilation Systems
Natural Ventilation terminalOur natural ventilation solutions consist of two synchronizing devices: a roof-mounted natural ventilation turret and a wall-mounted unit.

Louvres within these units divert external fresh air into the internal spaces creating a stack effect which in turn removes stale air or CO² from the space. Airflow, temperature and CO² within the system are monitored and controlled via pre-set sensors within a given space.

The wall mounted damper also works as an optional heating application. A series of grilles and dampers allow for a controlled environment purely using fresh air. This unique design eradicates the 'cold drop' effect and allows the unit to work as a front line heating system. The unit can be controlled via wireless technology connected to any existing BMS or internet system reducing the cost of conventional wired controls.

The size and type of application is virtually limitless. Additional roof-mounted turrets and wall vents can be added for larger applications and rooms can be individually monitored and controlled as necessary.

The features and advantages of such a system include:

A fresh air supply for workers - proven to increase productivity & reduce staff sickness
Naturally ventilated - reduce your energy costs and carbon footprint without the need for mechanical ventilation
Night time purge of stale air - creating a fresh working environment for staff the following morning
Better control of building temperature and CO² levels
Free cooling
Natural Lighting Systems
Natural lighting systems are the perfect complement to our natural ventilation systems. Daylighting systems offer a modern, realistic and compelling alternative to artificial lighting for commercial, industrial and domestic projects.

The benefits of piping brilliant, natural sunlight into a space are widespread and available for both new and existing buildings. Our natural light systems have successfully transformed homes, offices, schools, factories and hospitals. All the time reducing their energy consumption, building running costs and carbon footprint and aiding common seasonal workplace disorders like SAD

  1. 1. Project Profile Holford Drive Sports Pavilion - Birmingham Consultant ■ BSD Client ■ Willmott Dixon Sector Front Entrance ■ Leisure Products ■ Wind-iVent Systems Equipment ■ Natural Ventilation Systems Wind-iVent - Natural Ventilation Systems Application ■ Balance Airtherm Engineering have recently completed the new installation of seven natural ventilation systems for Gill Mech Limited based in West Midlands. Airtherm had previously designed and selected the correct systems to serve Terminals the new boxing hall within the newly built pavilion. This process required critical information to establish the correct airflow and terminal size, i-Control Solutions Available working closely with both the consultant, builder and mechanical company the installation was completed on time. The natural ventilation systems have been designed in line with all current publications such as CIBSE guidelines, AM10 Natural Ventilation in commercial buildings and Building Bulletin 101. The terminal sizes have been selected by our new computer aided software ‘Wind-iCalc’ and fully conforms to the CIBSE requirements. 0844 809 2509 | airtherm.co.uk | info@airtherm.co.uk
  2. 2. Product Solution Product Range The Airtherm “Wind-iVent” is a natural ventilation system operating on established aerodynamic principles. As external wind flows around the terminal itself, positive and negative pressure areas are generated. On the positive side air enters the louvres of the terminal and is directed down through the internal vanes into the room below allowing a fresh air supply to be delivered, and on the negative side the stack draws the stale unwanted air which is expelled through the terminal into the atmosphere. Class ‘A’ – 99.8% Rejection Installation The Wind-iVent units are lifted by a specialist crane company who work closely with our on-site engineers. The systems are mounted onto the 3mmthk aluminium fully insulated roof upstands. Each unit is fixed and secured to not only the upstand but internally using universal type fixings. Once each unit is secured a low-leakage uPVC damper and 24v actuator is fitted, followed by the insulated plenum and an internal powder coated grille to complete the system. Natural Ventilation Terminals Airtherm offer a roof plate solution for all situations, including self mount flashings and curb mount flashings with suitable upstands. The options for each project will be discussed at the design stage in detail, including the necessary openings that are required to suit our systems.
