    2. Using the Connector ‘So’
      • The connector ‘so’ shows a result . The first subject and verb gives the ‘cause’ and the second subject and verb gives the ‘result’.
    3. Activity 7, pp. 107-108
      • A) R c) C It rained really hard, so we didn’t play tennis.
      • A) R b) C The cat was very sick, so we took it to the vet.
      • A) C b) R The audience loved the show, so they applauded wildly.
      • A) C b) R Jonathan didn’t feel well, so he didn’t go to the party.

      • A) c b) R The plane didn’t leave on time, so we arrived at out destination late.

      • The boy wants to skate outside, so he is putting on his roller skates.
      • The dog is hungry, so it is howling.

    6. Adverbs
      • Adverbs are another word group in English. They describe verbs. They describe how the action is done. ‘How’ shows manner
      • E.g.
      • Picked-up= carefully (note, it ends with ‘ly’)
      • Studies=hard
    7. Practice with Adverbs, Activity 10 p. 113
      • Quietly; hard
      • Quickly
      • Nervously; confidently
      • Poorly
      • softly
    8. Activity 12: Editing Grammar and Sentence Review
      • A small brow squirrel is climbing a tree. He looks like a young squirrel. His tail is twitching nervously, and his nose is moving quickly . I think he is looking for food. Now the brown squirrel is on a long tree branch. He wants to jump to another tree. The squirrel hears something, so he looks down. He is coming down from the green tree . Someone dropped a few pieces of chocolate chip cookie. These pieces are lying on the grass. T he squirrel is walking a toward the food, and he is inspecting it. He is putting it in his mouth. His tail is moving rapidly . The little brown squirrel is now eating happily.
    9. In-class activity Write a paragraph that describes what each person is doing. Use connectors and, but, or so to combine short sentences into longer sentences.
