      • It’s about respecting others
      • It’s something we should model
      • It’s the law Section 107 of the Copyright Act of 1976
        • Four little guidelines to see if it is Fair Use
        • Some simple limits
    3. It is fair if
      • it is for educational use.
      • it contains facts or information that would benefit the audience.
      • it use portions not sections.
      • it does not take away from sales.
    4. Music or Sound
      • Limits
        • Up to 10% of the work but
        • No more than 30 seconds with
        • No alteration to basic melody or character
      10% and 30 seconds with no change
    5. Images (illustrations & photos)
      • Limits
        • May be used in entirety
        • No more than 5 by a creator
        • No more than 10% or 15 images from a single work (whichever is less)

      • I want to use that real popular song the kids like to introduce my lesson.
      • We are studying WWII and there are lots of cool pictures at the National Archives. I can use all that I need.
