  2. 2. Voyage of the Beagle <ul><li>Darwin went forth on the ship the Beagle to the Galapagos islands to collect different animals and plants. </li></ul>
  3. 3. Darwin’s observations <ul><li>Darwin observed that many species on different islands had slight differences to help them survive </li></ul>
  4. 4. Darwin’s book <ul><li>When Darwin went home after his trip he published a book called “On the Origin of Species”. Darwin’s new views not only challenge those of that time but disturbed even him. </li></ul>
  5. 5. Natural selection <ul><li>Natural selection is the process in which animals who are fit to the current environment live and pass on their genes while those who are not, die. </li></ul>
  6. 6. Artificial selection <ul><li>Humans interfere with natural selection by breeding animals to fit their needs. This is called artificial. The Pug is a good example of artificial selection. </li></ul>
  7. 7. Evidence of evolution <ul><li>Extinct animals, homologous structures, and even the shape of the land is proof of evolution. It shows that the earth is changing all the time and that the creatures on it have too. </li></ul>
