Indian Institute of Chemical Biology (A Unit of CSIR, Govt. of India) Kolkata 7000032 Post-graduate Student Programme: Summer Training / Project Work (PW) / Dissertation Work (DW)Objectives:The aim is to let young minds feel the thrill and excitement of science by working on a projectrequiring application and critical appreciation of scientific principles.It also aims at active participation in the learning process through experimentation and putting intopractice the knowledge acquired in the classrooms. The program gives students an opportunity togain research experience and work closely with a scientistGuidelines for students: Summer Training / Project Work at IICBEligibility & application procedure: • The Student must be pursuing Postgraduate course from a recognized University/ institute /college in the relevant area. • He/ She must have secured at least 60% marks throughout his/ her academic career (From High School onwards). • Training should be essential for the candidate’s course curriculum.[Those who are pursuing undergraduate courses including four years B.Tech. programme areNOT eligible for Summer Training Programme]. • Bio Data and academic records of the student mentioning percentage of marks obtained in different examinations from school final onwards indicating name of the college/university/institutes where studied. (Do not send photo copy of the results). • Marks obtained in grade point, if any, is required to be calculated in terms of percentage. • Original copy of the Recommendation Letter of the Principal / Registrar /Head of the Institution /University, mentioning the training programme sought is essential for the candidate’s course curriculum and also the date & Period of proposed training. [See the ‘SAMPLE REQUEST LETTER’]. • Just forwarding the request letter written by the student will not be considered. • Area(s) in which training is requested is to be mentioned. [Different areas of ongoing Research work can be available at IICB website www.iicb.res.in • Applications are to be sent by post in the following address or may be delivered to the Receiving & Dispatch Section, IICB. The envelope containing the above documents is to be super scribed as TRAINING/Project Work (Dept./Univ/Inst/ period of training). • Application with all above documents along with recommendation letter as per pro- forma (Sample Request letter) to be sent by POST ONLY to The Head, HRG- Academic Affairs , Indian Institute of Chemical Biology, 4-Raja S.C. Mullick Road, Kolkata-700032.
