4. 4. Who does child labor?
Most countries have some form of child labor; some have more than others. Child labor occurs when a community, a region, or a country is very poor and every member of a family must contribute to the economy of the family in order to survive. In countries that have limited areas of hard poverty, child labor would still be found. The most obvious might be in the entertainment field but there is everything else from farm labor to prostitution.
5. 5. CAUSES CHILD LABOR TODAY: -
Poverty is widely considered the top reason why children work at inappropriate jobs for their ages. But there are other reasons as well -- not necessarily in this order:
family expectations and traditions
abuse of the child
lack of good schools and day care
lack of other services, such as health care
public opinion that downplays the risk of early work for children
uncaring attitudes of employers
limited choices for women
6. 6. Effects CHILD LABOR:- :
There are several effects of child labour, both on the child and the society. Child gets deprived from the basic education and the society also suffers due to this.
7. 7. SOME SOLUTIONS TO CHILD LABOR:-
Increased family incomes
Education — that helps children learn skills that will help them earn a living
Social services — that help children and families survive crises, such as disease, or loss of home and shelter
Family control of fertility — so that families are not burdened by children
The ILO’s International Programme for the Elimination of Child Labor (IPEC) has explored many programs to help child laborers.
