Quick Response (QR) codes create a bridge between real-world material and online resources. Move beyond the marketing potential of QR codes and see its impact on student and faculty engagement. Collect real time data sets, distribute campus-wide (or site-specific) information and deploy timely updates all from the scan of a code. The potential use of QR codes within a classroom environment has grown exponentially with the growth of the smart phone market. See how to engage and prompt creative learning environments through this use of mobile web technology.

QR Codes: More Than Just Marketing

  1. 1. QR Than Just Marketing More Codes: QR Codes are popping everywhere. Most are in terms of marketing, but what about its potential in education?Monday, October 10, 2011
  2. 2. What is a QR Code? QR stands for Quick Response code. It is a type of matrix barcode or two-dimensional code first designed for the automotive industry by a Toyota subsidiary, Denso Wave. It was originally used to track vehicles during the manufacturing process. Quick Response code allows for rapid decoding of information.  QR codes have the ability to encode a much larger amount of data than the original linear barcode. This is one of the main reasons why QR codes have started to be widely adopted by the marketing industry. It is also the same reason why the education industry should be paying attention.Monday, October 10, 2011
  3. 3. WHY USE QR CODES? QR Codes are much more than barcodes. They can contain over 4000 characters of information. QR Codes can present a variety of options that connect the end user with a powerful data set.Monday, October 10, 2011
