  • 2. The Ratio: (a+b)/a = a/b
  • 3. The Rectangle:  BA is a golden rectangle  B is a perfect square  A is a smaller rectangle  A is proportional to BA  Thus, A is also a golden rectangle
  • 4. Why is it special?  Golden Ratio- creates rectangles with special proportions.  Golden Rectangle- most visually appealing rectangle.  Appear perfect.  A Square and smaller, proportional rectangle always exist inside.
  • 5. Graphic Design & Rectangles  3:5  2:3:5 (size of most business card)  Layouts- create definite units  Variety of rectangles add interest  “Perfection”  Comfortable, familiar, appealing.  Use to simplify or structure.
