Background: …

Background:
1 - Software supporting the generation of labels at the Patient bedside was designed for use by phlebotomists, as an extension of a Laboratory Information System. It was then introduced to Nurses.
3-Feedback from Nurses was incorporated into the product by adding to the existing screens.
4- Adoption among Nurses was much lower than among Phlebotomists, and lowest among Emergency Departments.
5-This project, the first using a usability engineer as part of the development team, championed the idea of determining the usefulness of all labels in the primary task flow, and then removing those that don’t support an Emergency Room Nurse.
