    Cherokee Cherokee Presentation Transcript

    • The Cherokee Tribe By: Deja, Ian, Dan H. ,Brianna, and Megan. This is our presentation on the Cherokee Tribe. We hope you enjoy it.
    • Introduction
      • This is the Cherokee Tribe and we will be talking about the location, environment, natural resources, detailed housing, clothing artifact, additional artifact, one additional piece of information from research. We hope that we made it as fun as we could. We hope you enjoy it.
    • Location
      • The Cherokee Tribe lived in the South East (USA)
      • The Cherokee Tribe also lived near the Great Smokey Mountains
      • The Great Smokey Mountains are close to Virginia, Alabama, Tennessee, north Carolina and south Carolina
    • Environment
      • There were 200-400 people living in 60-80 villages along Cherokee country.
      • Rivers and canes provided many resources to the Cherokee tribe.
      • They built tall walls to keep animals and enemies out.
      • There were cold winters and hot summers.
    • Natural Resources
      • Animals: Fish, Deer, Bear, Panther, Beaver, and Turkey.
      • Vegetation: Corn
      • Surroundings: Mountains, Forests, and Rivers
    • Clothing
      • The Cherokee made clothing out of animals
      • They use things like deer, bear, panther, beaver, buffalo, calf, turkey feathers, leather
      • The Cherokee Tribe wore moccasins, dear skin leggings.
      • The moms and girls wore skirts made out of buffalo skin
      • Kids under the age of 8 wore nothing
    • Information
      • If you lived with the Cherokee you would get 2-4 names. When you were born you would have one and then for 7 days they had a ceremony to choose a new name depending on your smile our your eyes or something else about you. When you got older you could choose a new name our keep your old one if you liked it.
    • Winter House
      • Your winter house would be round and have a thatched roof made of reeds shaped like a cone.
      • Another name for your home would be a ASI
      • Your ASI would have no windows.
      • To enter your home you crawled through a small round door so that most of the winter breeze stays out.
      • Your winter home would be covered with thick mud which keeps the cold air out and the warm air in.
    • Summer House
      • Your summer house would be made of logs. Or it would be made of trees and stalks of grass.
      • Your summer house would be covered with a thin line of mud.
      • Door of your summer house would be a deerskin that would be pulled back to let in sunlight and cool breezes.
      • Your bed would be at one end of your families bed.
      • The roof would be made of tree bark shingles.
      • Your roof would have a hole over top to let the smoke out.
    • Bow and arrow
      • They would take a type of rock named flint some wood and a sharp rock. They would smash the rock to the shape they wanted then take a stick and make the arrow. Then they would take the stone and carve the wood to make the bow. And that’s how they made it
