Los hermanos Montgolfier inventaron los primeros globos aerostáticos llenos de aire caliente en 1783. En su primer vuelo tripulado, Pilatre de Rozier y el Marqués d'Arlandes volaron sobre París durante 25 minutos en un globo lleno de aire caliente. Este vuelo histórico demostró el potencial de los globos como medio de transporte y marcó el comienzo de la aviación moderna.
