  •  Born in South Africa. In July, 18 1918 Son of Henry Mandela and Nosekeni Fanny. Went to 2 Universities. University of Witwatersrand andFort Hare University. Qualified in law in 1942. Joined the African National Congress (ANC). Got arrested. Announces retirement. Married 3 times. Has 6 children.
  •  In prison for 27 years. Encouraged black South Africans to go on strike. illegally leaving South Africa. In most of his life he fought for an end to apartheid in South Africa. Named a terrorist because he supported the ANC.
  •  The rights of black people. Wanted black people to be treated the same as white people.What was happening? Black people were forced to live in small areas. Couldn’t leave without a ‘pass’.
