  • 3. OriginsDunant was born inGeneva on May 8, 1828. In1843 he joined a group ofyoung people of the freeChurch.Dunant went inLombardy, in the middle ofthe Second Italian War ofIndependence, after theend of the war, Dunantreturned to Geneva, buthe can not forget theatrocities.
  • 4. In 1862 Dunant joined to the "Geneva Public UtilityCompany" and together with five other Swiss citizens -The jurist Gustave Moynier, General Henry Dufour andtwo doctors Louis Appia and Theodore Maunoir. In 1863was founded the "International Committee for Relief tothe wounded of war", which in the same year willbecome the International Committee of the Red Cross.
  • 5. August 22, 1864 thanks to aDiplomatic Conference 12countries signed the first GenevaConvention, which laid thefoundation of the Red Cross .
  • 6. objectivesThe Movement of the Red Cross work in the field ofhumanitarian aid on the basis of seven common principles,adopted by the International Conference of the Red Cross,which constitute the spirit and ethics of the Red Cross andwhich they are guarantors and guidance.
