  4. 4.  Two days before the official release of theCharter,8 December 2008,Liu was taken intocustody by the police On 23 June 2009, the Beijing procuratorateapproved Lius arrest on charges of "suspicionof inciting subversion of state power„ In December 2009 he was sentenced for 11years imprisonment.
