2. Ways in which my media product uses, development or
conventions of real media products
• Firstly there was the way that I used a barcode
and pricing on magazine
• Also the use of photograph which are
completely original
• The way in which my photo overlaped the
mast head
3. How are particular social groups represented
• Throughout the magazine i
have made it stand out for
people of the alternative
genre through use of darker
colours such as reds and
black, which people of this
social grouping seem to
prefer.
• I have also used fonts and
contents to help represent the
alternative social group in my
magazine
4. What kind of media institution might distribute this media
product and why?
• A company that would publish my magazine
would be someone who has published magazines
such as kerrang or NME such as Bauer consumer
media
• Places that may be willing to sell my magazine are
stores that are more music orientated such as
HMV or others of its type, or it could also be
found in places such as Asda or Tesco
• There is also of course the option to subscribe to
the magazine and half it delivered.
• The internet
5. Who would be the audience for your
media project?
• This would be a person who
enjoyed the genres of
alternative, metal or punk
• I would aim my targeted
audience at roughly 16 -25 but
there would be others who
would read magazine.
• There is also the chance that it
could attract people from other
social groups who are interested
in the look of the magazine
6. How I attracted my audience
• I asked potential customers what types of
music they liked, and by trying to interest
them in trying out the magazine.
• There is also the idea of starting the issues on
a low cost so people are more willing to buy it.
7. What I learnt about technologies from the process of
constructing this product
• Firstly learnt how to use serif page plus and
also how to use publisher effectively
• I also learnt to edit photos on the computer
using fireworks
• It has all allowed me to create a magazine of
professional level
8. By looking back at my preliminary task, I now feel that I have
made progress in that:
• I am able to produce a magazine to a much
more professional standard than I could
before
• I have also made progress in the way I use
computer programs such as serif and firework
in a more productive manor.
