4. THE FUNCTION OF SIMPLE FUTURE
TENSE :
We use the simple future tense for
actions that will happen in the
future. How we use it depends on
how we view the events are going
to happen. The followings show the
different tenses used to express the
completion of an activity in the
future.
5. THE PATTERN OF FUTURE TENSE [ WILL + V1 ]
THE PATTERN OF VERBAL SENTENCES :
+ ) S + WILL/SHALL + V1 + C
- ) S + WIL/SHALL + NOT + V1 + C
?) WILL/SHALL + S + V1 + C?
THE PATTERN OF NOMINAL SENTENCES :
(+) S + Will/Shall + Be + Noun, Adjective, Adverb,
Pronoun
(-) S + Will/Shall + Not + Be + Noun, Adjective,
Adverb, Pronoun
(?) Will/Shall + S + Be + Noun, Adjective, Adverb,
Pronoun?
6. EXAMPLE OF VERBAL SENTENCES :
(+) Jack will finish his work tomorrow
(-) Jack will not finish his work tomorrow
(?) Will Jack finish his work tomorrow?
EXAMPLE OF NOMINAL SENTENCES :
(+) I will be at the meeting tonight
(-) I will not be at the meeting tonight
(?) Will I be at the meeting tonight?
7. Put the verbs into the correct form (future simple). Use will.
Jim asked a fortune teller about his future. Here is what
she told him:
