    • How To Recover From Googles PenguinPenguin Recovery - 3 http://letter.ly/fromtheinside
    • Get A New DomainA proven way to recover from Googles Penguin update is to buy a domain, move your content tothat domain, clean up your content, setup a 301 redirect and then initiate a new link buildingcampaign. In this screenshot based report, I will show you how to do everything needed. We will start by finding a domain.Next, we will setup new hosting. After that, we will migrate the old content to the new domain.Once thats done, we will setup a 301 redirect on the original domain. And lastly, we will initiate a new linking campaign to the new domain. Find a domainYou have 2 choices, begin with a brand new domain and build authority to it or begin with adomain that already has authority associated with it.My obvious choice is to leverage an aged domain with authority already.I use Register Compass for this.Penguin Recovery - 4 http://letter.ly/fromtheinside
    • DashboardWhen you login to Register Compass, you will see this dashboard.First thing you will want to is search for a new domain based on your keyword criteria. Domain Search DashboardThis screen gives you an overwhelming number of filter options. The nice thing is that most arent really needed.Penguin Recovery - 5 http://letter.ly/fromtheinside
    • CriteriaIn the initial search, I enter my keyword.I checkmark .com, .net., and .org. I dont care about other extensions.Lastly, I want to search for all domains that are expired from 2009 and back.Once filters are set, click Find Domains.I am only concerned with Expired Domains. You can click the hyperlinked number to see youroptions on this page or click the Excel button to download the list for offline filtering.Penguin Recovery - 6 http://letter.ly/fromtheinside
    • Every domain in this list that hasnt been dropped (well get into that in a minute) is a candidate.Since we have the domain authority already available to us, I will use that as an initial filter. Thedomains with the highest authority are the ones most interesting to me.Penguin Recovery - 7 http://letter.ly/fromtheinside
    • After domain authority, other interesting criteria is Google Indexed pages (how many pages arefound in Google) and Majestic Index (how many pages Majestic SEO shows as being indexed). My preference is Google first, followed by Majestic.Domain found!I quickly found a domain thats at least 3 yrs. old, has authority and indexed pages. That was FAST! Check to ensure domain has never droppedWhen looking at expired domains, the deal-breaker is if the domain has ever dropped. We find this out by visiting http://www.domaintools.com/.Penguin Recovery - 8 http://letter.ly/fromtheinside
    • Just enter your prospective domain name and click Search for Domain. Dropped or No?If you dont see a notice that the domain has been dropped, then you are good to go. Register your domainIts time to register your new (or aged) domain. The best registrar online that very few people know about is http://www.yourcheapdomains.com/.Penguin Recovery - 9 http://letter.ly/fromtheinside
    • Ive been using them since the year 2000 and have never been disappointed. Search for your domainThe first thing you need to do when you visit the registrar is to ensure the domain youve beenresearching is indeed available. On the rare occasion, you will find out that its been taken. No worries, just go back to the research phase. If it is available, then you will see a message like the one in this screenshot. At this point, click Add and go through the checkout process. You will be presented with a few upsells, you can choose to take them or not based on your needs.I personally never take the upsells.Penguin Recovery - 10 http://letter.ly/fromtheinside
    • Setup New HostingOnce you have your domain registered, you need to setup hosting. This can be the same hosting you previously had, but my suggestion is to move to a new host. Recommended HostThere are thousands of hosting accounts out there. My #1 preference is a dedicated server, but I realize thats cost prohibitive to most people. My second choice is Brain Host which is very affordable and with the best support in the hostingbusiness. Create a new accountIf using Brain Host, the following steps will be slightly different. The PROCESS is the same, so please keep that in mind.Penguin Recovery - 11 http://letter.ly/fromtheinside
    • Enter your domain infoOn this screen, you need to enter your domain, proposed username (will be autofilled), apassword (or the system can generate one for you), and your email address.Once you complete the form, you will be sent all of your account info.Penguin Recovery - 12 http://letter.ly/fromtheinside
    • Time to create your databaseOnce your account has been created, you need to create a database to be used in the sitemigration. If using a dedicated server, make sure you access CPanel.Once in Cpanel, click MySQL Databases. In the field provided, add your new database name. This can be anything you want.Penguin Recovery - 13 http://letter.ly/fromtheinside
    • Next, enter a username and password, then click Create User.Once your username and password are created, you have to add the user (your username) to thedatabase that you created.Penguin Recovery - 14 http://letter.ly/fromtheinside
    • Choose All Privileges and then Make Changes.Once done, you will get a confirmation like the one above.Make sure you copy this information as you will need it in the next step.Penguin Recovery - 15 http://letter.ly/fromtheinside
    • Move Old Website To New DomainIn this step, we will move all of our site files from one domain to the next.Im assuming you are using Wordpress... and this tutorial will use a tool that will move yourWordpress site flawlessly for you.If you are using another CMS or static HTML, then I suggest hiring someone to migrate your site tothe new domain/host for you (unless you have the technical skills to do it yourself). Migrate Your SiteMy tool of choice for migrating a Penguin afflicted site is Manage WP.When you login to Manage WP, you will want to click Install or Clone Wordpress on the sidebar.Penguin Recovery - 16 http://letter.ly/fromtheinside
    • Choose the Penguin afflicted site that you wish to clone (backup).Unless you wish to exclude or include files and folders, just click Create Backup.Penguin Recovery - 17 http://letter.ly/fromtheinside
    • Click New Site.Enter your new sites hosting information.Penguin Recovery - 18 http://letter.ly/fromtheinside
    • Enter your new hosts database information. After you click Clone, the process of migrating your site can take 30 seconds to 1 minute. Whendone, you will see the image shown above.Penguin Recovery - 19 http://letter.ly/fromtheinside
    • Setup 301 Redirect On Old DomainA 301 redirect is the most efficient and Search Engine Friendly method for webpage redirection. Its not that hard to implement and it should preserve your search engine rankings for thatparticular page. If you have to change file names or move pages around, its the safest option. Thecode "301" is interpreted as "moved permanently".http://www.webconfs.com/how-to-redirect-a-webpage.php The 301 Structure (technical)Create a .htaccess file with the below code, it will ensure that all your directories and pages of yourold domain will get correctly redirected to your new domain. The .htaccess file needs to be placed in the root directory of your old website (i.e the samedirectory where your index file is placed)Options +FollowSymLinksRewriteEngine onRewriteRule (.*) http://www.newdomain.com/$1 [R=301,L]Please REPLACE www.newdomain.com in the above code with your actual domain name.In addition to the redirect I would suggest that you contact every backlinking site to modify theirbacklink to point to your new website.Note* This .htaccess method of redirection works ONLY on Linux servers having the ApacheMod-Rewrite moduled enabled.Penguin Recovery - 20 http://letter.ly/fromtheinside
    • How to add itFrom within Cpanel, click File Manager.Next, click the folder icon next to public_html.The file we need to edit is the .htaccess file. Click the file name and then Edit File.Penguin Recovery - 21 http://letter.ly/fromtheinside
    • If youre using Wordpress, then you will have a lot of data in this file. All you need to do is delete it.Penguin Recovery - 22 http://letter.ly/fromtheinside
    • Ensure you change the domain to your NEW domain.Options +FollowSymLinksRewriteEngine onRewriteRule (.*) http://NEWDOMAIN.com/$1 [R=301,L]That all there is too it!While this looks very technical, its not as bad as it seems.Next, we look at the new linking plan...Penguin Recovery - 23 http://letter.ly/fromtheinside
    • Link Building To New DomainIn addition to the 301 redirect to an aged domain, the way we link to our new site has to change aswell.Ideally, my Everygreen Traffic Formula Traffic Kickstart is the ultimate solution followed by... The Ultimate Link Management SystemIf you are not using Link Emperor, then you may be missing out. There are several reasons why I use them.1. 100% automated2. Allows you to adjust linking profile3. Services that they use to deliver links are always tested for quality. If a service performssubstandard, then they are removed from their service providers list.4. SIMPLE TO USE. DashboardWhen you first login, you will be presented with a simple to understand dashboard. You can add new campaigns, check your rankings, adjust your link building profile, and updatePenguin Recovery - 24 http://letter.ly/fromtheinside
    • your account from here. Adjusting the link profileIts rumored that one of Penguins penalties has come from an over-optimization of off-page anchortext. With LE, we have the ability to adjust the settings to adapt for that. The profileIn my tests, 40% of the inbound links use direct anchor text, 40% with a modifier used with theanchor text, and 20% with totally random terms. We get naked links (also important) from Press Releases and Social Media.Penguin Recovery - 25 http://letter.ly/fromtheinside
    • Adding a new campaignAfter we setup our new site and set the 301 redirect, we need to begin the linking campaign to thisnew domain.Click New Campaign from the Campaigns tab.Give the campaign a name.Choose your location.Choose the most appropriate category. And lastly, assign a value to the campaign. Think of this number as a bid amount you would use inGoogle Adwords. The more competitive the market, the higher you will bid.Penguin Recovery - 26 http://letter.ly/fromtheinside
    • This is where the magic happens...After you create the campaign, click on Sites then Add Sites(s).Here you will enter the name of your site.Add your domain. And then choose THE GOOGLE ANALYTICS ACCOUNT FROM THE SITE WE JUST 301Penguin Recovery - 27 http://letter.ly/fromtheinside
    • REDIRECTED.This will pull all of the keywords and landing pages found in Google Analytics and pick up thelinking campaign where it left off.Pretty cool, huh?Once youve done this, you are done. You literally dont have to do anything from a linking standpoint again (unless you wish to adjustthe campaign at some point).I hope you found this guide useful.Oh, and if you want to join my underground insiders-only email list, then you can do so for just$4.95 per month here...http://letter.ly/fromtheinsidePenguin Recovery - 28 http://letter.ly/fromtheinside
