Our group had decided upon using this image of the singer holding up balloonsIn the park mainly due to us trying to link the scenes within the song with the actual front cover. It is a mid long shot to reveal her body image she is portraying and to express the surroundingThat she is placed in. The way she addresses the audience is not straight towards the camera butSolely focused elsewhere. This is common amongst many indie artists because their musicIs not all about the image but rather their music alone.
This was the original photo that we intended on using and in order to achieve the effectthat we desired for we had to change the brightness, contrasting and saturation of theimage. Our idea next was to leave the balloons with their original colour and change therest of the image in black and white. This was done by using the magnetic lasso tool aroundThe image except for the balloons, copied and pasted into a new layer. And then theDevelopment went on to adjust the black and whiteness of the image. Having the balloonsUnchanged is very symbolic due to it representing the lyrics of the song.
The final addition to the album coverwas the font that the bands nameand song name was going to be put in.the name of the band was placed incapital letters in bold black font, so thatit is easily read by people and they couldremember the name of the band due tothe simply font.it is placed at the top to not overshadowthe image that is being used.the name of the song was then placedunderneath in a more sophistic font. Thesinger throughout the video is expressedin this way so having the font suit herimage we felt it was appropriate to usethis style of writing.
