It is registered under the Companies Act. </li></ul><ul><li>Government of Karnataka has announced a comprehensive Renewable Energy Policy in January 2010 </li></ul><ul><li>Installed capacity from Renewable Energy is 2831MW </li></ul><ul><li>Karnataka Stands 4 th place in India, in the development of Renewable Energy. </li></ul>Introduction

    9. 9. <ul><li>Wind – Rs 3.70 per unit </li></ul><ul><li>Small Hydro – Rs 3.40 per unit </li></ul><ul><li>Biomass – Rs 3.66 per unit for the first year & </li></ul><ul><li>Rs 4.13 per unit for the tenth year </li></ul><ul><li>Cogeneration – Rs 3.59 per unit for the first year & </li></ul><ul><li>Rs 4.14 per unit for the tenth year. </li></ul><ul><li>Solar – ESCOMs have filed a petition before </li></ul><ul><li>KERC for fixation of tariff for projects </li></ul><ul><li>below 3 MW. </li></ul>Purchase Price of RE Power as fixed by KERC
    10. 10. <ul><li>Government of Karnataka has prepared RE Policy after wide spread consultations with industry and other stake holders. </li></ul><ul><li>Cabinet has approved the policy and announced on 19.01.2010. </li></ul><ul><li>Capacity addition of 4326 MW by 2014. Capacity is targeted from wind, small hydro, biomass, cogeneration, solar and waste to energy projects. </li></ul><ul><li>Emphasis on Energy Conservation and Energy Efficiency by saving 1500 MU per year (900 MW by 2014) </li></ul><ul><li>Renewable Energy development is treated as an “Industry”. </li></ul>Salient Features of RE Policy

    13. 13. <ul><li>Government vide order dated 13.11.2007 & 08.04.2008 under section 18 of the EC Act 2001 has mandated for </li></ul><ul><li>Use of Solar Water Heating Systems and CFLs in Government buildings, aided institutions, Boards and Corporations. </li></ul><ul><li>Mandatory use of ISI mark Energy Efficient irrigation pump-sets. </li></ul><ul><li>Promotion of Energy Efficient Building Design (ECBC) </li></ul>Energy Conservation & Energy Efficiency
    14. 14. <ul><li>Government has mandated for compulsory installation of Solar Water Heaters in residential and commercial buildings having plinth area of more than 600 Sq Ft in Karnataka. </li></ul><ul><li>Installed 2.3 million Sq Mt collector area in Bangalore – highest in India. </li></ul><ul><li>ESCOMs provide a rebate of Rs 0.50 per unit, subject to a maximum of Rs 50 per month for installation of solar water heaters. </li></ul>Energy Conservation and Efficiency
