    Slide 8 - loads in this isn’t there! We have best results from either time-limited, really focussed, appropriately facilitated asynchronous or synchronous via web conferencing e.g. WebEx.

    Slide 6 - Mmmm it always goes wrong if I rely on online storage for f2f... I prefer to have stuff on my own laptop... That way you are not at the mercy of the venue’s connection etc... In some of our courses (programmes) in fact we give the facilitators USB sticks with the presentations on...

    Evaluation form is interesting. Consider getting feedback on ## impact ## back in school as well some time later - 'How did the session change your practice?' Agree how you will collect this.

    Slide 5 - agree about clear and achievable objectives and expectations - need to be explicit about both at the start of the session and be flexible about including their expectations in your objectives - within reason. Both need to be shared openly and referred back to at the end to see if you all agree you have met them - if not agree what to do about it afterwards...

    • ensure quality equipment if participants can’t bring their own
    • check internet access speed for numbers involved
    • model the use of technology and tell participants why
    • use a VLE that gives a clear course structure
    • avoid downloadable files, ie. make PowerPoints online eg. use Slideshare and embed it, with option to download
    • embed videos, but make sure you have enough bandwidth, or run them in your presentations
    • chose appropriate tools in the VLE for task you set
  7. Blended - management
    • use external tools only if participants do not need to log in, integrate them as much as possible
    • encourage further discussion online after the event
    • enable the course evaluation online
  8. Online - management
    • much the same applies as with blended courses but ...
    • consider whether ‘drop-in’ or ‘tutor-led’
      • drop-in:
        • use tools that are asynchronous eg: forums, wikis
      • tutor-led:
        • consider tools that are synchonous eg: chat, live presentations by a speaker
