BRITNEY: The Replacements Anthony Durante, Linda Nareski, Stefanie Phillips, Stephanie Ciccone NEU Winter Term 2007, LDR3310: Leading Teams Hugh McGill, 31 March 2007 The Reality of Fame and Shame Production Launch Proposal by:
INTRODUCTION Show Premise … what could possibly go wrong?
This is the saga of a multi-platinum recording star and Hollywood A list struggling with her fame and the shame associated with living life in the public eye.
This show is based on the precept that Britney is just a good ‘ole Southern girl trying to get back to her roots .
The audience demographics is comprised of anyone between the ages of 13 to 45 (the MTV generation) who is amazed at Britney’s talent… and her talent for getting into trouble... people who have an interest and fascination in celebrity, fame, and the turmoil associated with that type of lifestyle.
Britney will have to look beyond herself and look to the help of her teammates to help her win challenges… and win back the normalcy of what her life once was.
People from her past will visit her and stay with her in this “Surreal Life” setting… LDR3310 Style .
People will tune in to predict whether or not she will make it to the next week: this is a definitely a ‘water cooler’ show in the making.
Viewers will be able to text message via cell phone who they thought should have won the challenges: let the games begin…
Britney lived in Kentwood, Louisiana and was active in the local Baptist church choir. She auditioned for the Mickey Mouse Club at age 8, but was too young to be accepted.
She got an agent and moved to NYC where she attended the Professional Performing Arts School for three years, appearing in off-Broadway productions during that time.
In 1993, Britney returned to the Mickey Mouse Club, where she performed between the ages of 11 to 13…
THE INNOCENCE From Smallville to the Mickey Mouse Club and the Big Apple … and now she goes back to her roots to try and make it all right again.
THE SHACK For the next two months, the stars will call this “home…” … say what? OFFICE! LIVING ROOM! KITCHEN! BEACHFRONT PROPERTY! GUEST HOUSE!
THE SHACK OFFICE! LIVING ROOM! BEACHFRONT PROPERTY! GUEST HOUSE!
How do they work together to make this shack a home?
They learn each other’s personality types through discussions during this Forming stage
They play the Desert Survival game even though Britney’s protests, “But we ARE stranded, y’all!”
They talk about “team achievement” according to Katzenbach as one team member read once somewhere…
They decide who will do what around the shack by “letting others learn how to do them”
The team leader agrees to believe in “the purpose and the people”
The Teamwork Challenge:
Little did Justin know that when he was called to do the show, he would be answering a higher calling: helping a friend in need!
Can you remain friends with someone from the past? Can Justin help Britney get on the right path?
FIRST ROMANCE It all seemed so innocent… … will her fans continue to support her?
Justin helps Britney to see that she needs her team in order to…
“ Keep the purpose, goals, and approach relevant and meaningful…” as we will see in future challenges
“ Build commitment and confidence” by trusting her team will help her win the challenges
“ Strengthen the mix and level of skills” by letting the team do what they do best
“ Manage relationships with outsiders and remove obstacles” by helping her see how her previous behavior was toxic
“ Create opportunities for others” by letting them shine without her glow about them
“ Do real work” by caring about what she is doing
FIRST ROMANCE The Teamwork Challenge:
They say “ what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.”
What was she thinking?
How can her teammates help her realize the impact on her youngest fans?
Can Britney regain the trust of mothers of ‘tweens everywhere?
BRIT WEDS CHILDHOOD CHUM Annulment follows a few hours later… Jason Alexander, this is your second shot at stardom, no nuptials needed!
BRIT WEDS CHILDHOOD CHUM The Teamwork Challenge:
Learning to deal with others without becoming intimately involved.
This is where Britney learns the value of “Emotional Intelligence”
Learning about people before committing too quickly
Britney needs to be sure she:
“ Makes better decisions, more creative solutions, and higher productivity”
Uses “participation, cooperation, and collaboration”
remembers the team needs to feel “trust, identity, and efficacy” especially when they are around her
Remember the “group emotional intelligence”
Determine who can do certain tasks longer than their wedding
Holding their breath underwater
Dance furiously without reason or artistic impression
What was she thinking?
Did she ignore the stories about this guy?
What will happen with the kids?
How can her team help her?
BRIT & K-FED WED Say it Ain’t So… … what about the kids?
BRIT & K-FED WED The Teamwork Challenge:
Britney, K-Fed and their teammates must tackle a military-style obstacle course that challenges both the mind and body with climbing walls, puzzles and other team-oriented tasks (white tank tops and bandanas optional)
This challenge works on the Latin meaning of team: “to pull”
“ A group of individuals is not a team unless they pull together to reach a common goal.” (Huszczo, 63)
The teams will need to pull together to overcome the obstacles
The teams will need to set goals and work together to overcome the course
… good thing K-Fed has that singing career as a back-up!
A NIGHT WITH PARIS Like mom always said, “Put on clean underwear before you leave the house…” It’s all fun and games until you see your picture in the tabloids…
When Paris was called for the show, she said, “Sure, that sounds hot.”
Brit’s new buddy may be fun out in the clubs, but what is their friendship doing to influence Britney?
Is Paris’ partying ways good for Britney as a parent and role model?
Where are the kids?!
Can Britney find a balance between a social life and a responsible home life?

Surprise twist: once the dormitory has been decorated and
furnished must spend three weeks in the school refining their manners, math
and English composition skills.
The girls will be expected to set an example for the girls at the school
Their actions will be evaluated and they will receive positive reinforcement if they succeed
Skirts past those knees, ladies!
RESPECT YOUR ELDERS Oh, Madonna… … oops, we probably should not have done that!
She is a loving wife and mother
Golden Globe winning actress
Can Britney realize that Madonna is a role model?
The Teamwork Challenge: RESPECT YOUR ELDERS
Take acting classes to effectively capture the attention of the audience instead of resorting to shock-behavior
Work together on song which will be sold at local music retailers to help fund the education of young men and women about homosexuality and bisexuality.
The group will head out on a mini-tour at select cities.
Britney and Madonna will be the headliners.
The other remaining members will be the “roadies”.
All members will be responsible for all details of the tour: set-up, tear down, ticket sales, and living together on the tour bus.
Work along side Madonna to plan, produce and perform on a show which will feature the cast members of this program.
The show will combine the lessons learned in the challenges of previous episodes and will allow each member an opportunity to perform and reflect on the leadership and teamwork skills learned during the season.
IS IT THE ‘BABY BLUES’? Our resident therapist will be none other than Brooke Shields… Only time and our audience will tell…
