Spadina House, also called Spadina Museum , is a historic manor onSpadina Road in Toronto, Canada that is now a museum operated bythe City of Toronto Cultural Services. The museum preserves the housemuch as it existed and developed historically. The art, decor andarchitecture of the house used to reflect the contemporary styles of the1860s through the 1930s, including Victorian, Edwardian, Arts andCrafts, Art Deco, Art Nouveau and Colonial Revival styles. After beingclosed for a year for restoration work, Spadina Museum re-opened inNovember 2010 in the inter-war era style of the 1920s and 1930s.The garden surrounding the stately Spadina House goes back to 1818when the Baldwin family first lived at Spadina and lives on, as it hasbeautifully aged through the Victorian and Edwardian periods to thepresent day. The design and plantings were enhanced by James Austinsfamily and descendants from 1866 to 1978. It is divided into a largelawn area with flower beds, a perennial garden including a kitchengarden, and an orchard with berry bushes and grapes.
