  1. 1. JULIUS CAESAR Julius Caesar was born in Rome on 12th of July in 100 BC and died in Ibid on the 15th March in 44 BC. He was a militar and political leader whose dictatorship ended the Republic in Rome. He grew up in a poor family. Julius Caesar spent a miserable youth, which soonbegan to approach the political party. Julius Caesar achieved great political success to reconcilethe two rival leaders, Crassus and Pompey. In 59 BC, JuliusCaesar was elected consul. Caesar started a civil war which took three years (49-46 BC)and which was victorious. He conquered Rome and Italy, then heinvaded Hispania, and finally went to the East, where Pompey hadtaken refuge. Caesar was very important for their work: Consul for ten years,prefect of the customs, the chief of the army, the high priest,perpetual dictator and emperor transmission right. Julius Caesar was assassinated in a conspiracy led byCassius and Brutus, which prevented him from completing hisreforms. However, Ceasar was successful.
