Micromedex Drug Reference Micromedex Drug Reference Presentation Transcript

  • Micromedex Drug Reference Installing the Mobile App (using the institutional subscription code)
  • Open the App Store
  • Type “micromedex” into the search box & choose the result from the dropdown menu.
  • Find the app for the “Free Micromedex Drug Reference for Internet…” and tap the “Free” button
  • Then tap “Install.”
  • If prompted, enter your Apple ID password.
  • Tap the Drugs icon to open the app.
  • When you first enter Micromedex Drug Information, the app will begin downloading the content.
  • You will have the option to view the End User License Agreement (EULA) when you first enter the app.
  • You will now need to enter the MCW password.
  • Return to your iPad’s desktop, and open Safari or your preferred browser app).
  • Enter the following URL into Safari’s URL bar: www.mcw.edu/mcwlibraries.htm
  • Next, tap the “All E-Resources” link under the “Library Jumpstarts” column.
  • Then tap the “Micromedex” link on the alphabetical list. The password, which changes periodically, can be found within the standard version of Micromedex.
  • If you are working from off-campus, you will be prompted to log on to the proxy server, using your MCW username and password. (If you are on campus, you will skip this step.)
  • You will now enter Micromedex. Tap the button for “Micromedex 2.0” on the right.
  • Next, tap on “mobileMicromedex” at the top of the screen.
  • Scroll down to step 4 under the Free Micromedex Drug Reference instructions to copy the password (the password does change periodically).
  • You will now be able to start using the app! Tap the “Information” option at the bottom of the screen to access Help and About.
  • Tap “About” to get information about new updates, etc.
  • You’ll be able to see the expiration date of the current content (new updates are pushed to you through the App Store). Tap “What’s New” to see updated content.
  • You’ll see a list of the drug information that was updated since the last release.
