Johan Messely grew up in the artistic world of his father Paul Messely (painter) for Johan and his great impulse was. After studying engineering and photography, he settled as a photographer in Menen, but ultimately chose to turn his hobby into his painting career. Johan southern tinted paints scenes where the play of light and shade predominates. The oil paintings are bright and colorful and exude optimism and joy of life. He is figurative with an impressionistic slant. Besides oil Johan also has a passion for pastel. After his studies into technical engineering and later photography, Johan settled as a professional photographer in Menen, Belgium, but eventually decided to turn painting from being just a hobby into his future career. Johan aims at creating scenes in which the subtle play between light and shadow takes the central stage. His oil paintings are sunny and colourful, and depict optimism and the joy of life. They can be described as figurative art, but with an impressionistic touch.
