Zou Chuan’an male, born in 1941, is a native of Xinhua county, Hunanprovince. He is now a member of the Chinese ArtistsAssociation, and a visiting professor of the Art Department ofHunan Normal University. He was also an honorary presidentof the Loudi Literary Association of Hunan, president of theLoudi Artists Association and director of the Loudi PaintingInstitute. In addition, he is rated as a national first classartist. Zou was fond of painting when he was young. Throughout thelast few decades, he has dedicated his time to the study andcreation of Gongbi paintings. He is solidly cultivated intraditional painting theory and brushwork in chorusassimilating the essence from the modern masters. Thus hisworks are marked by virtuosity and elegance with powerfulvitality. He has captured the charm of expressionisticbrushwork and meticulous details. Zou’s paintings are highlyappreciated by home and abroad. He is the prominentrepresentative of the Gong-bi style in flower-and-bird. His publications include “Techniques of Meticulous Flower-and- Bird Painting” and “Paintings by Zou Chuanan”.
